Hey, I have read a couple of books (woeful choice but what can you do?) one of the only ones I found remotely decent was James Pattersons The Midnight Club. It's not brilliant so won't gush but it ticks a couple of boxes although the romance is a little lame. There's really not much out there but the closet cases have been busy in fan fic and I admit I'm one of them! It was an early effort so forgive the typos etc but as it moves on it sort of develops I guess whit issues coming up later and paralysis is the central theme. It is a Supernatural fic so don't know if anyone likes the show but I love it personally. www.fanfiction.net/s/4194378/1/Crushed

Does anyone watch Private Practice? I know I know it's lame but...they're got a new character Dr. Gabriel Fife who is a quadriplegic. So I did a bit of research, his real name is Michael Patrick Thornton and is a quad in real life. And he's not too bad to look at either

One late night I came across a Spanish film called The Sea Inside (translated). It was about a quad who started the campaign and fight for euthanasia. In his dealings, he meets a woman who turns out has MS. Anyway, the movie has some pretty underscored eroticism about it, like when she wheeled to his bedside and he started telling her what he wanted to do to her (the next scene shows him standing - this was his imagination btw - and sweeping her hair to one side, kissing her neck) cut to a close up of them kissing. Then there's Rosa, a girl who worked in a cannery who seemed totally taken in by Ramon (the quaddie), always wanting to come and shave him, bathe him, and do everything for him. In the end, when he loses his fight to die with dignity, she offers to help him. The beginning of the movie is quite dragging, but a good watch anyway esp. if you're an insomniac like me

hey bex. we talked about this on the board many moons ago.... but have you seen 'the haunted airman'?? it's robert pattison in a wheelchair! lol granted it's an old, rickety chair... but the miniseries does have some dev appeal. sounds like you should check it out if you haven't already. you can watch it on youtube: it's also available on dvd, i believe. enjoy!

Hi Girls, I'm new in this forum. Just today I leafed through a book I read years ago. " The Countertenors Daughter" by Elizabeth Falconer. I only have it in German and I just ordered it at Amazon in English( because I haven't read a book in German for years). It's about a guy( and his name is Guy!!) who has shattered and paralyzed legs since a childhood accident. He walks with legbraces and crutches and refuses the wheelchair until he falls in love again. Very romantic!!! And a happy ending!!

Not sure this is the correct threat, nor that it wasn't mentioned before, but did anyone see the german movie "Phantom Pain" (2009)? www.imdb.com/title/tt1123970/ Watching it know and shievering. Highly recommended, not only for amuptee-preferring devs

this thread brings me back to the days I discovered Nancy Drew. After reading the whole collection, I turned my sights to Cherry Ames (also writtten by Carolyn Keene - pen name) who was an army nurse tending to the injured army men. I knew there was soomething strange going on when I was enjoying (indeed, rather envying the protagonist) reading the stories. Unfortunately, I don't think Cherry Ames took off as well as Nancy Drew. Did you ever read Captive Witness Nancy Drew? There is a guy in a wheelchair in that one. I loved it, except I will spoil the end ...and say that very upsettingly, he was faking. I still read it over and over, though, and just skipped the ending. I have only just discovered this "wounded hero" thing myself. I think I need to write some of these things

In fact one e-book publisher, Awe-struck publishing, has a line dedicated to romances with disabled characters. It's called Ennoble. I haven't read any of the books. I just went and looked and it seems like all the books are female disabled characters

...and say that very upsettingly, he was faking. I still read it over and over, though, and just skipped the ending. Ugh. I remember being a mini-Shanzi dev in 5th grade, and reading that one. I got to the ending and was just... irate. It wasn't long after that I started jotting down my own little dev stories.
