makes me want to go on a ratical weight loss plan... I don't believe that will make you lose your eyeballs. Which, clearly, is a requirement if you wish to attain skull-like hotness.

It's a '95... there's a pic posted on page 2 of this thread actually. I killed my distributor (again) so it's currently running on 6 cyl. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Money pit cleverly disguised as a muscle car...

Ah, does the '95 model still use the LT1 Opti-spark? If so, there's a trick to putting those in so that they don't keep frying, but I can't for the life of me remember it. Try a Google search for it. I helped a friend change one on his '94, what a bitch of a job that was. 4th gens are cool cars. I like the noses on the earlier 4th gens like yours VS that "catfish" nose they put on the later models. I do not like the look of any 4th gen Firebird, especially the Ram Air cars. It's way too over the top. I've owned a few 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen f-bodies. They're ALL money pits. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

It just dawned on me. The problem is moisture getting inside the optispark. The '94's had 3 weep holes in the base to drain any moisture out, and it was a design flaw. Water from a tiny leak or hitting a puddle could be sucked into those holes and blow the opti. In '95, GM installed vacuum hoses into the base as a design fix. So, be sure those hoses are on right with the new unit, or they aren't cracked/leaking, otherwise it'll get wet in there and you'll be buying a new one again. And if your '95 happens to be an early production model that has the '94 design in it, you can modify it pretty easily to fix the design flaw. Don't try putting the '95 opti in place of a '94. The cam is different and it won't work. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Yep, mine was manufactured in November of '94, so it has the old model. I killed the first dist doing donuts in the snow... why GM thought it would be a good idea to put the dist BEHIND the water pump at the bottom of the engine, I have no idea. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) And yes, it's a royal PITA to get to. (Ever had to change the spark plugs in a 4th gen?) I'll see if I can't run a vacuum hose to it - I should have thought of that before. My personal favorite GMism with that car though - OBD1 system with an OBD2 plug. ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) They've been gradually pussifying the maros in later years - the new ones just don't look mean enough IMO. Then again, it'd be cheating on my car if I said I liked the new ones, so I *might* be biased. Money pit, yes. But I grin every time I start it.
