Dare I ask?
First, I want to thank both Devogirl and Amy for their recent contributions. Since Amy is finishing her story and Devogirl has now reviewed every blindness book written in the last century, I fear that there won't be much new stuff for you to read.
If you don't care, that's fine. But if you do enjoy reading the fiction/reviews on the site, please considering making a contribution of your own. Or if you're a closet writer who's feeling too shy to share your work, I encourage you to be brave. I think in about eight years of running this site, I have never seen a negative comment on one of the stories.
And if you're a blooming writer, it's a great way to get your work read. Amy's last update sparked over 150 hits on Sunday alone.
So once again, if anyone has any writing they would like to share, send it to me at paradevo (at) yahoo.com.

Au contraire, there are lots more blindness books out there!! Someday I will review more of them, but right now I don't have time to read them. I know this is not the favored topic of most of our members, so again, if you have read a great book you want to tell us about, please write a review!
I was considering doing film reviews, but there are so few disability-themed films and we all seem to know about them already. I could do a few of the less well known ones. And those of you who have more to add, please do so, especially those films that have not been released in the US.

Way back when, I was literally getting more submissions than I could handle. I know a lot of people tinker with writing in their free time. Take a chance and send me something... you will likely be surprised and pleased with the response you get.
Is there anything else I could to encourage people??

I think the level of submissions is going to stay at it's relative volume, and a post isn't going to necessarily encourage people any more - I know I've previously said I've had some material that may or may not be appriopriate/desired, but I've also reiterated I don't have the damn time to edit it to make it suitable for submission at the moment; May happens to be a quieter month for me, so I may consider it - unfortunately there are a lot of considerations when posting your writing online, and only being given seven hours to jump and make a reply and gush out with submissions doesn't give me the time I need.

Look, I don't want anyone to feel pressured.
I just think it would great to get things started up again. I do editing too, as those who have submitted stuff in the past can attest.

He sent me a few to edit and, I'll be honest, the amount of work needed to make some of them even close to readable was horrific. Terribly horrific. I couldn't continue without losing my mind. However, it seems like most the people submitting now have a decent command of the English language (even the folks who don't speak English as a first language). It's probably not as bad. It's possible Lee sent me the ones he was dreading to do.

Yeah, I have done a TON of editing on some of the stories. That's part of why I shut things down for a while... I was just dreading all the editing work I had to do. But I've had a long break and I'm up for the task once again.

I can do my own editing, and would prefer to, it's just the format transfer, I'd have to transfer an Academy screen script into novelised form.

Well, I still encourage anyone who has an inkling to write even a couple of pages to submit it. The best cure for writers block is being showered with praise.
Plus there are several writers in the past who contributed who seem to have gone missing. I'm sure there are some writers who you'd like to contribute another piece. I for one would love to see another contribution by the author of Skeletons and a few others.
