I am a Beatles fan most definitely, and that's pretty cool, Fubber. To me, there's been no other band that produced so much great music that pushed the boundaries in so many ways. On top of all the great poppy songs of the early years, they were really the first alternative band with the White Album, Revolver and the groundbreaker Magical Mystery Tour. As a musician, I've always marveled at having three REALLY GOOD songwriters and singers in the same band...just three young teenagers finding each other!! Jesus, what's the odds of that?

Revolver is an amazing album, and certainly one of my favourites - it is quite amazing when such a trinity of talent ends up together (though certainly not unique to the Beatles, I might add)...it's also amazing how much Harrison, Lennon, and McCartney (lol poor Ringo...) produced on their own as well.

Now that we're onto the Beatles, just wondering what are your top 5 Beatles songs. Their music is quite diverse. So, if we took a poll of board members, would there be any clear favorites or trends? My top 5 are: Let it Be Hey Jude Eleanor Rigby All You need is Love Twist and Shout It was hard to whittle down to just 5 !

Oh my... top 5?
Geeze.
Very hard question.
Helter Skelter A Day in the Life The Abbey Road Medley (can that be one song?) -- if not, then She Came in Through the Bathroom Window I Want You (She's so Heavy) Dear Prudence
I could swap any one of those, though, with While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Fixing a Hole, Getting Better, In My Life, She's Leaving Home, Old Brown Shoe.
I love me some Beatles.

Odd man out here, lol.
I like(d) the Beatles, but I was never a huge fan. Their music's all good.
I remember them getting so much air time on the radio, that I just grew sick of hearing them 24/7. It's on the same level as hearing Stairway To Heaven getting hacked away at in every guitar store you entered back then, lol.

Down here it seems that Smoke on the Water is the song that gets hacked away at every guitar store - even now

Is hanging a legal execution in Australia? What's the matter, U2 not cool enough for ya? To confuse the BEATLES with BONO... that's just... it's a travesty of epic proportions.

Ok, so last night I was watching TV and we have this show called 20 to 1. It is a show that lists stuff - famous scandals, best showbiz couples etc. Last night's countdown was the 20 best rock anthems.
I can't remember them all, but they included:
Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benetar I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett Keep on Loving You by REO Speedwagon Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones We Will Rock You by Queen Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple Lola by the Kinks.
There was some OZ stuff in there as well, including What About Me by Shannon Knoll and Working Class Man by Jimmy Barnes.
The No.1 song was It's a Long Way to the Top by ACDC which BTW, we Aussies tend to sing as "It's a Long Way to the Shop if You Want a Sausage Roll" ;D. I'm still not sure if I agree with the choices or the No.1 song. I would have chosen some other songs. What do you think?
