So as part of my birthday pressie, better half finally took me to see this movie (after only 4 weeks of begging, nudging, blackmailing)...To my surprise, Eric Bana was in a wheelchair at some point in the story. Unfortunately, that didn't do much for me...though I secretly think my partner thought that was the reason I wanted to see it in the first place

Yeah, that part didn't do much for me, either. I'm sorry that your partner misunderstood.

He totally did it for me...it was a cross between the turtle neck sweater and the wheelchair...pretty good although very fleeting

I didn't see the movie, since the book made me cry and I hate having to choke back tears in the theater. In the book, the character was sexy but him being in a wheelchair at the end wasn't terribly sexy (for me, at least). It was like a segue to death in the book... not very sexy.
Btw, is this weird or sweet: after I read the book, I ended up telling my boyfriend parts of the plot that made me cry and he started crying!

I think it's adorable. I had posted this and then deleted it... The movie sent me into an emotional meltdown that I had not experienced since the friggin Titanic. As in, pulled over in a parking lot sobbing (hoping that no one with the power to have me committed is nearby) and I got lost on the way home. I live 3 blocks from the theater. I loved the movie. I will not be watching it again.

I had to stop reading at parts because my eyes were too filled with tears to see. Every time I think about it, I feel sad. One or two scenes especially. The part that got my boyfriend was when I told him the final scene where Clare is old. He was tearing up and saying, "Aw, he sees her when she's old." Then he got really embarrassed and said, "I can't believe I'm tearing up over your description of a book." I guess he's sensitive.
