Lee just forwarded me the following comment about my story:
"I give up reading this story. I hate the fact that Tessie and Jim are not together. It was good while it lasted reading such a great story but not it sucks."
While I, um, appreciate getting both positive and negative comments, this one kind of surprised me. It's "to be continued"! I thought it was fairly obvious there's going to be a happy ending.
Anyway, I apologize if anyone else is frustrated. I had only one part left that I was going to write and then call it quits.

A reporter once asked Mark Twain his secret for success. He replied that he had none, nut he did have a recipe for disaster: Try pleasing everyone. Write for your own pleasure, Nell.

I'm certainly not frustrated. It's a bright moment when I see that you've posted another update.
I am sometimes torn between looking forward to the happy ending and bummage because I know it's ending.

Exactly, Nell; write because YOU want to, and write what YOU want! If we let every negative review stop us from doing something, we'd have an illiterate, culture-less society. Some of the greatest literary models that we refer to today, were in their time considered complete failures, and yet today we view them as worthy of emulation. Keep it going - count me as a fan, at least!

Oh no, don't apologize!! Your writing is great! I'm always super excited when I see that you have posted new updates! Your writing has a debth to it that makes us want to read the next update, to see what happens next, because we get emotionally attached to both Tessie and Jim! ;D Don't change your way of doing things!
You can count me as a fan, too!!

You guys are right, of course, that I shouldn't let a comment like that get to me. But it still hurts. It also sort of makes me mad that people would complain, considering it's free to read the story.

Yeah, it can hurt...I've gotten some ignorant comments about my writing too (particularly recently), it's like a bruise, though, it'll go away; what doesn't kill ya', makes you stronger, right? Keep on writing, I know I will.

Keep on writing, I know I will. Have you written anything on the site? Yes, though not in the same form as you - I have one chapter of some Dev-fiction (Shattered) (I'm horrendously slow and meticulous with my writing) in the Story thread, and I have a personal writing thread (My Writing(s)) as well...
