Is anyone else worried about Joseph's van getting stolen? What a liability. Also, did anyone else notice how poorly written that article was?

It seemed like the writer didn't know what a paragraph was.
I liked the little slide show.

"Henry is from the Philippines and is legally blind." pardon me for asking but what is "legally blind?" is that something American?

"Henry is from the Philippines and is legally blind." pardon me for asking but what is "legally blind?" is that something American? Yes it is. There is a legal and binding set of tests that need to be failed in order to be named in that manner. Other countries probably have a similar status for the same condition.

FWIW, I knew a woman who was legally blind, and used a guide dog to get around. But who still had a driver's license. A valid one at that! The definition of legal blindness varies quite a bit, but in her case, she coudln't see a thing within 6 or so feet. Decent vision outside that. Quite unsettling to see someone walk up to a car with a guide dog, get in and drive away, as the driver. Makes you wonder if the dog barks once for stop, twice for left, and thrice for right! I personally think she shouldn't have been allowed to drive, but the driver's license issuing authority apparently didn't have a problem... Scary, huh?

I am legally blind due to a juvenile form of macular degeneration. And like has been discussed on here, it is a little different for everyone. The American definition is that the best corrected eyesight is 20/200 or below. Which means that what someone with 20/20 vision can see from 200 feet, the legally blind person would need to stand 20 feet away to see it. My vision is more like 20/300 and cannot be corrected. I use magnifiers, but still can't read print below 10 pt. I have screen magnifiers for computer use and will probably soon go to a screen reader. I cannot drive a car. I lost my license when I was 21. But, strangely enough, about 10 years ago, I actually got my license back when we lived in VA. I had a doctor who signed off for me to have a provisional license to drive to and from work. I would never let anyone else in the car with me. Didn't want to be responsible for that. Now, I know better. If I can't read road signs (or the license plate in front of me) I don't need to be driving. Using a guide dog isn't something for me, although I have been told I should learn to use the white cane. It would avoid bumps, bruises and embarrassment i am sure, but as long as I am not consistently walking into walls, I think I will wait.

I have a feeling it was written so poorly because one of the two guys, or a friend, wrote it and gave it as a press release -- no offense to them, of course. We're not all professional writers.

very true, we arent all professional writers. still hoping for someone to write another dark fantasy, no matter how poorly it is written (although that is up to individuals to decide that)
