I don't know what they where thinking. There was 1000 issues. From 3 months when he was diagnosed they where told he would not live and they carried that; then suddenly he was a young man and they wherent prepared for that. I could hardly be a gold digger; they didnt have any money, but normal people don't usually travel to another continent to meet someone who is this severly disabled, and he went from having no social life to suddenly having a girl friend, ofcurse they got freaked out. They had to be concerned for his safety and that his heart would not be broken. So still I can partly understand them and I know they loved him so much. They eventually eased up a bit but it took like 4 years. One day we where in new orleans- yes we where even on Natchez , him, his parents and me, and he held up his hand to me and I took it and started kissing it over and over. I wasn't aware of what I was doing! until his dad took a photo of us sitting like that lol. But everyone laughed and I could finally feel that we where going to be OK. But D died 6 weeks later, 21 years old. It was a very difficult time.

I think it's lovely that you can see it from their point of view. It cannot be easy for anyone to know that your child is dying. I had a friend like that when I was a kid. Not that I recall that you could necessarily tell .... unless you knew what you were looking for. (She had heart probs.) I'm sorry that he died, Ath. That must've been terribly difficult. Hugs.

I'm sorry to hear that your relationship got cut short and that his life was so short. At least he got to experience the love and touch of a woman before he died.
