they block and set up plays. they are just as important as the higher functioning. the strategy is to figure out what level players to put on the court that will do best against your opponent, without exceeding your limit.

Goddam, stude! It's a wonder you're still alive...
The headfirst dive into shallow water seems like a common way to get paralyzed. I geuss it must just be natural human exuberance to dive into inviting water rather than step in like an old lady. But I do remember being told as a kid to never dive into water you don''t know the depth of. I think Joni was the big warning for that. But it''s still happening, again and again.

Boy Stude. You and I even had the same lifestyle. My first accident was at age 13, 60mph on a skateboard with nothing on but shorts and sandals. I was holding on to the back of a friends motorcycle. not a death wish, just loved living on that edge. I always told everyone, "I knew this was coming, I just thought it would kill me". Adrenalin was always my drug of choice. (not to say I didn't try the rest for comparison.. haha)
I'm paralyzed from my nipple line down. no trunk movement. I just learned to balance with a lower back and it even seemed to cut down on my spasms. But every injury is different and has different abilities and limitations.
my weight machine cost $200 and the only modification was not attaching the seat. If I knew how to insert a pic I'd show it to you. I bought it at a sporting goods store.
Yeah, age is a bitch isn't it? My body doesn't recover near as fast as it did just 5 years ago.
V. any chance you could send me that link too? I'd love to see more pics of you and as an amateur photographer I like your style.

Interesting. When was your first in-person contact with someone in a wheelchair? In person? If smiling at "him" does not count (and "he" was a good looking guy on his way to a gay bar - about a year ago, in Brussels) than this June, here in Brussels, with a new collegue - a girl... That makes not too much...

the first photo in the "jeff" series seems fake. the foreground image has a lot more distortion and "noise" than the background, which is not what you'd expect from a real photo...

Well, I don't know, the photos look OK to me. I just post what people send me. If either Joey or Jeff have anything to say about this, go ahead and defend yourselves.

I did think the Joey photos looked okay... They didn't look fake to me. And maybe the Jeff photo was taken from far away... It does look a little strange, like photoshopped.

Hey, I could be wrong, but back me up here, guys. Would any of you be caught dead in a ghetto chair like the one in the Joey pic? It looks like was stolen from the back hallway of a hospital.

Actually, I take back my last statement. I'm grateful to the guys who sent photos and the last thing I want to do is start dissing them and saying the photos don't look real. Especially if the photos actually are real. And if they're not... then nobody got hurt by it.

Jeff's picture doesn't look fake to me, it's just not a great picture that was resized by not a great image program. There's all sorts of pixelated noise in it - some of which is especially noticeable around his face. If you look around it, though, it's consistent with the noise in the rest of the picture. It's pretty low quality, but whatever. That's why it's not very big.
I also think the photographer used flash, which is why the reflectors on the chair are glowing like they are. That will account for some difference in light on the subject and in the background.
