So, reading in the general board about the supposed to be meeting of a gay devotee with a male wheeler, I thought it might be interesting to discuss the following fantasy. I am not a classical slasher, but I must admit, that my dev-fantasies sometimes include a disabled guy an and an AB guy, who provides support. When lurking for devotee stuff I mostly consume fanfiction. I just go to fanfiction.net, pick the category of my favorite show (which I won't mention here for the 900-th time , 2 male charachters, and the genre of Hurt/Comfort. And there it is, the best devotee experience for me. There are tons and tons of fic-writers who are happy to share their fantasy of two guys in a hurt/comfort situation (which also makes me wonder about the underestimated amount of devs in the closet out there) , and this is the most arousing plot for me. I must say, that h/c involving a male and a female charachters doesn't give me the same "AAA! BANG! Tgdsh!" experience, as male/male charachters. Does any of you share the same idee fix?

Yeah, I enjoy slash fanfic from time to time, but it very much depends on the characters. There are shows where I HATE the idea. I particularly don't like it when incest is involved (more concretely: wincest). In other shows I don't mind at all, I guess the most important thing is that the story and interaction is hot devo-wise. But I mostly still prefer male/female, especially when it fits the canon of a show.

Yes, incest is disgusting even when it is only a written imagined story. But than again, when running into a fic like that, I start to question the borders of my tolerance. I mean, may be others, who read "hot devo-wise" fics feel the same about us? Well, whatever, we don't make them read it.
And what does "wincest" mean???

Wincest is the surge of "Winchester" and "incest". It refers to the (hot!!) brothers of the show "Supernatural". And yes, many readers who are not devos find devo-fics disgusting. I know this for a fact because a long time ago someone wrote a "Dark Angel" fanfic where Max is a dev. I thought the story was pretty hot. Anyways, the reviews went from "well that's different!" to "that's disgusting, you're sick!!" the more the story progressed.

Anais you will have to post some links to this 'slash' you speak of. I am not a fanfic reader, so perhaps you could enlighten me.

I cringe everytime I read a Wincest warning in a fanfic description.

Agreed BA. I have no idea what fan fiction and slash is. Please share some beginner details.

Beginner details, Emma? OK...
Fanfics are stories written by *fans*, that refer to an existing book, TV show or movie. People write an read fanfic because it gives them the possibility to do what ever they like to their favorite TV show and its characters. For us Devs, for instance, that could be making a TV character you find particularly hot disabled in a fanfic. There's a HUGE online community for fanfic, and every popular show has it's own fanfic writers community. Some works are truly great, you feel like reading a good book or watching the show. Many are simply awful.
Slash is an insider expression for male/male interaction in a fanfic when it differs from the show. For example: Anais likes "House" slash, that would be House being gay or bisexual with another doctor.

I've been reading and writing fanfic for close to eight years now, and it's truly a form of conveying your dev tendencies in a creative, sharing way

I also am not really a huge fan of slash in general, nor the Japanese manga variant called yaoi, mainly because the male characters are so clearly stand-ins for the female readers, they just seem like women to me. But recently I've been growing to appreciate it more, and when it's really done well, it can be a lot of fun. This is just a painting on deviantart, not a story, but tell me this is not super hot: ordinaryriches.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2vrzo5OMG Wincest is just about the worst thing ever. I just recently discovered that dirty little corner of the internet--yuck! Although who am I to deride someone else's fantasy. I actually found a Wincest where one of them was blind that was less awful that most of it but I lost the link, sorry. Slash is the dominant mode in fanfic, no matter what the "real" story is, no matter how unlikely the pairing is. Here's a very very short one using characters from Homestuck, which is a webcomic/online gaming parody, but whatever, you don't need to know anything about the "real" characters to enjoy it: kisiki.deviantart.com/#/d33oy3z

I love fanfics... not only of wheelers but of blindness too. But... Slash or Yaoi... I can´t digest it!.... I have problems to "feel" the story when it´s about a boy-boy thing. About Wincest... I think I read the same you did, Devogirl... is it "Road to Redemption" ( community.livejournal.com/rd_2_redemption/73595.html)? But... Incest... no, I don´t like incest.

I've read this story and think it might fit the description. www.fanfiction.net/s/1728364/1/The_Depths_of_WinterFour years after getting out of Hogwarts, Harry lives alone in the Muggle world. He has turned his back on the magical world – until one day, when Draco Malfoy gets into a car crash before Harry’s eyes and ends up paralysed in a wheelchair.
