Just added another one to the list:
…when you think the Billy Joel lyric “alone in your electric chair” (from You May Be Right) means he’s singing about a quadriplegic girl.
It took me years after I first heard that song to realize what that line really meant!

I had a dev moment today: Read a newspaper headline on the street saying "Cops shoot unarmed man" and it took me a whole block before I realised that that meant he didn't have a GUN! My mind is warped
