the whole point of my suggestion was that the chats would *not* be exclusive to either 'north american' and 'non'. i thought i was quite clear that i hoped there would be a lot of crossover between the two. the point was to have two chats available to everyone, but with a time each that would work best for the specific group.
as a night person, i would probably try to attend both. as would, i expect (and hope), the hardcore night owls from overseas who have stuck it out at the current chat. it would also be a backup plan if one of the dates didn't work for you.
two chats, available to everyone at varying times seems pretty win-win to me.
but if you don't agree, that's cool. it was an opinion and a suggestion. do what you will.
(i re-read my previous post and am confused as to why people seem to think i was trying to exclude certain people. my motivation was to include more people, more often, in a framework that optimized the experience for everyone. i think i said that quite clearly, but apologize if it was somehow misinterpreted.)

We understood you just fine. Thing is, the chats are at the time they are because in theory most of the Americans can't make it to an hour that is a bit less crazy for the Europeans, so I think the overlap would be less than you hope for. And Lucretia, I'm all for chatting more often too. |

It's been a while since I've been able to attend a chat. Dang kids and their school events, sports practice, etc.. Thought I had it all covered to join in Tuesday a little late and instead one decides to take a spill and land in the ER  LOL. I'm not going to vote in the poll because my attendance is so hit or miss. However I do think it would be great to have chats more frequently. Maybe the planets will align one of these days and I can actually make it to one. That or the kids will go to college... eventually.. Equal Opportunity sounds like an interesting pick! |

Wait a minute, we have not agreed to Equal Opportunities for next month! For one thing, I don't have time to get a copy before I go out of town. Can we make it the selection for July? I really want to read a blind guy romance. I also liked "This Is All I Ask." It was the first romance I read also, and I've been a bit nervous about rereading it, because it was only after I read more of them that I recognized some of the cliches in the genre. But hey, it got over 100 positive reviews on Amazon, so maybe it is objectively good. And the dev factor was really really high. amzn.com/0515121398As for the timing/number of chats, remember this is just a book club! It doesn't have to be the only time we have live chats. Trinity was organizing chats regularly, but since she left, no one else has stepped up. Any one of you who wants to schedule a live chat at any time is free to do so, and I'm sure people will join in. The more chats there are the less people will feel left out. |

I agree lets chat more and stay more updated so people don't feel like they are missing out on the once a month chat. I'm happy to chat with you all weekly if there are others interested. Thursdays are out for me and it sounds like Tuesdays are rough for some but maybe we could do a Monday, Wednesday or Fridays regularly. Is anyone else interested in this? Maybe just every other week and possibly rotating nights. The poker night I tried to organize with friends didn't pan out and I'd SO much love to replace the time with dev chat  |

either day is good for me and any time after 6pm will work (I can make 6 but it will be tights as I do work 9-5 as another poster mentioned)

OK!! I am very happy to announce that thanks to the untiring efforts of Valkyrja, the book club selection for the month of June will be the 2007 Dutch movie Blind. I love this film and have been wanting to share it with you all for a long time. Unfortunately it was never released outside the EU, so it's hard to get unless you have a region 2 DVD player. But you now have TWO options for watching online with English subtitles! Hooray! Thank you Val!! See below for details. As for the date, there seemed to be a slight preference for June 22, so we will go with that. Also over on the poll DD ran, 8 PM EST seemed to be the winner, so we will stick with that time. However, I encourage you all to chat more often. This shouldn't be the only chat ever. But someone will have to take charge and set up a time/date. Go for it! Just a reminder, the devs book club chat will be in just over a week, on June 22 at 8 pm US Eastern time. We will be discussing the movie "Blind." Look back in this thread for links to watch it online.
Any dev is welcome to join in. If you haven't participated before, PM your skype user name to me.
And FYI if you are watching it on Youtube, Val kindly broke the Youtube links into 13 minute segments but it didn't divide evenly, so the end of the movie is actually part 7. Part 8 is only the credits. It's a pretty dramatic ending, just so you know, the end of part 7 is the final scene.

Yeah Sunny you can't use the webcam feature of Skype when its a group call so all you need is a mic. If you send a skype add friend request to me at emmaampdev I'll add you and include you in the group call on Wed at 8pm EST. Anyone else who wants to join us and is not friends with another active member please do the same to we can be sure to include you.
