Hello everyone! Just stopping by to introduce myself. I've finally taken the plunge and decided to join the "community" after a little bit of lurking. I'm a dev and I'm really excited to have found this place--everyone seems so welcoming and friendly and non-judgmental--it's so great. I'm Eliza Jane (good ole' Southern name; three guesses as to what region I live in lol) but everyone who knows me calls me EJ. I'm in college as a history/archaeological anthropology major and um we'll see how that goes Anyways, looking forward to getting to know all of you--both devs and wheelers

Welcome! As others have mentioned, I'm also intrigued by your educational background. History and anthropology are fascinating.
I'm also relatively new, and with your arrival I continue to slowly climb the ranks…

Thank you for all the warm welcomes everyone! Nice to virtually meet you all. kristina: Great! We can figure this out together, yeah? lol brace4impact:haha yay for history! any specific area? Peony: I considered art history for a long time--I have a friend who is in a course right now. He likes it but...it sounds like a lot of memorization and interpretation lol. Our midterms were two weeks ago and he had to memorize (or "learn" lol) 90 paintings so KUDOS to you! kingcripple: thanks I agree wholeheartedly--they are fascinating! And really exciting!

Peony: I considered art history for a long time--I have a friend who is in a course right now. He likes it but...it sounds like a lot of memorization and interpretation lol. Our midterms were two weeks ago and he had to memorize (or "learn" lol) 90 paintings so KUDOS to you! Ya, it was a whole lot of reading and remembering, but no harder history, I think. I found once you get in to a particular period everything just kind of flowed...but when I graduated I didn't even want to read a pop science or history book for aaaaages! And I only wanted to look at art that was really emotionally affecting. I think the cool thing with art history (which actually was my second major, even though I didn't state it-clever!) is what it reveals, in terms of societies, their development etc etc. I imagine archaeology is just the same, but with a bit more time thrown in I always had a bit of a crush on archaeology, it must be such a cool discipline to learn! Hope you're enjoying the post-midterm relax
