You know I think the self esteem issue for SCI guys is mostly a body image issue. Having a gf that is into your body type doesn't negate all the other people one has to deal with on a daily basis. Besides the previous life you lived as an AB, those same negative feelings towards people who you didn't find attractive now are directed at your own body.
matisse - "getting a good job can be a challenge for wheelers."
I don't know if it is just because of where I live but I have personally not found this to be true. I have worked in two totally different professions (business and recreation therapy for psych) since my accident and have found jobs fairly quickly when I wanted to change employers or professions. I have made a very good income for 16 of my 18 years in a chair. I have worked for my current employer for 7 years but have had 6 other employers as a SCI.

I think it is obvious that there are limitations, specially doing labouring jobs etc
Here in the uk things are improving, but there is always limitations of access and lack of accessable toilets etc
A lot of comapanies dont want the extra expense.

as for how many wheelers are dating devotees, that is something we will proberly never know. I wonder how many wheelers are with a girl who is a devotee but she has never told him for fear of rejection! Thats exactly what I keep questioning with the recent girl i've been seeing. Whether shes a dev and doesnt know it or she does and wont tell, or she just has insecurities. Maybe im the insecure one...
