I really loved it. It was so poetical (I don't know if the subtitles give it back). I felt like in another universe.

I loved it!! Ok, I have some criticisms, but I will save them for later. If you haven't watched it yet, do it! I was a bit intimidated about the subtitles being in a different file, but it was easy. Most viewers have a way to activate the subtitles file easily. I used VLC, which is a free program for both Mac and PC.
The movie was definitely devolicious for me. Not one, but two dreamy wheeler guys! Watch it now!

Yes, amazing chat! Thank you all! It was great talking with you. I shouldn't have stayed up so late though, I totally overslept this morning, d'oh....
Anyway, to recap briefly, it seemed like for once we all agreed: everyone loved the movie. If you haven't watched it yet, do it! It was beautifully shot, and while it was a bit trite in places, on the whole it managed to be very appealing.
The story is about a world-class pianist named Luca who is hit by a car just after winning a major prize, and becomes a para. Of course he becomes despondent and suicidal (I did say it was trite in places) but he learns to cope by making friends with another guy in the rehab center, a bad boy named Roderick. I get so tired of these injury-recovery films, because in many ways it's always the same story. But by focusing more on the friendship between Luca and Rod, rather than Luca's relationship with his girlfriend, it made the story more fresh and interesting.
Ah Roderick, he was so cute and charming, but we all agreed there is something wrong here. He's not SCI, he's supposed to have an unspecified "muscle disease" that is terminal. Maybe MD? Or something. Anyway it's curious that while the film puts a good deal of effort into portraying SCI realistically, it totally drops the ball with Rod. He's way too muscular, especially in the upper body, for someone in the final stages of a wasting disease. But he's so cute, we decided to let it slide, haha.
Anyway it's a shame none of the members from Europe were at the chat. I was hoping some of you who speak German would give us your opinion on the film, or fill us in on anything we might have missed. Please tell us what you think!
Oh and I forgot to mention it last night, but another thing I really appreciated about the movie was how nice their chairs are. It's so rare to find a film with the guy in a sporty, low-back chair, so often they go for the clunky hospital chairs, or at least ones with big armrests and handles.
Thanks so much for suggesting this film--I had never heard of it before, but I'm really glad I watched it.
