So Kai (the main character in my soap In/Exhale) is getting a new chair in part of the timeline I'm working on now. So I thought I'd open up to suggestions for the brand and/or model name of the chair he gets.
I'd prefer to go with something made up since I want to be able to be completely free with the design, etc.
It's an expensive, good quality, solid-frame, custom manual chair, if that helps.
I'd love any suggestions you might have!

I believe rigid-framed wheelchairs are stronger than collapsables. Rigid-frames do not collapse, and the metal body of the chair stays intact. All you can do is pop the wheels off and collapse the back-support so it's flush with the seat. I have a Ti-Lite chair (rigid), and I believe the top chairs are made of titanium since its lightweight yet extremely durable. Not sure what you could come up with, but there's a start. Hope it helps.

Thanks, JR. Right now I'm looking for suggestions for the name of the chair company and/or model. Like I said, I'd rather make something up so I can be flexible with everything. So if anyone has any ideas let me know.

lol. Totally have to include the exclamation point, too!
I actually got the suggestion of Excalibur (among other names). Thought that was pretty kick-ass. Although I like Viper and Panther, too.

IMO, Ti-Lite is the best of the real brand names. The other most common real brand names are Quickie and Invacare.

A foray into the belly of the Thesaurus (get it? heh) led me to these attempts (after DG's reminder of current successful names).
Rapilite (Rapid + light); Agilite/Agilight; Nimbus; Wheelco (I keel me! ;D); Mobili-Ti; AcTIviTI; Al-speed (Al=aluminum... I assume the Ti in Ti-lite is Titanium)...
Delving into the belly of the Thesaurus is generally sad... but maybe this'll spark someone else's brain into a brand name... I hate the name "Invacare." Sigh.

Thanks, everyone, for the feedback! Some great names! Looks like there is a small company that makes sports chairs (specifically basketball chairs) called Xcalibur - www.xcalibursportschairs.com/I do really like Inigo's suggestion of "Rapilite." I'm kind of thinking of Xcalibre, a pun on "calibre" and "-calibur." Haven't decided yet. Thinking maybe using both, lol. Happy for more ideas for brand names and/or model names. *By the way, I think "Top End" is an Ivacare brand, right?

OK wow so I'm researching wheelchairs and this one company offers (in one of their models) a 24-karat, gold-plated wheelchair frame. I'm just... wow. Am I just crazy, or who would want a gold wheelchair??

lol... I'm just trying to even IMAGINE/conceive of a completely gold-plated wheelchair (you can even get the footplate in 24-K plate...). Not to mention how much that thing would cost!

Buenos días;

Good morning;
That to seek a seat depends on for whom, for all not worth the same chair or makes you the same service (this is what really matters). You have to find a balance between what you pay, your abilities and your needs.
Golden Saddle is unworkable even if you are rich, because their weight would be excessive. The Panthera X weighs 2.1 kg (Table) 4.2 kg (Complete). This chair is only valid for people with a low lesion. If you have a high injury will be most time on the floor in the chair. The best manufacturers with greater range of chairs are Sunrise Medical and Invacare. Sunrise Medical Quickie has chairs as chairs and Invacare has as Küschall. You have many manufacturers to choose from.
You Wheelchairs types Standard, Passive, Active or Sport. Then you have the type of wheelchair by folding system: Folding, Semi-rigid or rigid.
According to what you want / need you could say make and model.
A greeting.

I've just read a Hungarian military sci-fi (of all things... ) and it made me think of this topic. They gave the vehicles and weapons Hungarian geographical and zoological names (mostly rivers and birds) - just the way it is used to happen in real life around my country. In another book they gave weapons those crazy old Hungarian names that remind me of the names used by the Indian tribes over there. For example a bow was called Wing of Pretty Meadow. Another thing that came to mind are all those brands that use the names of famous people - you could chose or invent a famous wheeler or fabricator and use his name as a brand, then create series with letters and numbers. If you want to have a golden chair, you could include in its name Aurum or Au for gold. Latin names can be fun, too. If it would be some sturdy outdoor chair, you could call it tAurus, but I can't really imagine a gold plated outdoor chair... ;D Speaking of outdoor chairs - the other day I've seen these awesome French chairs on a fair, they are simply called TraceS, the company 2KS: www.2ks.fr
