Wait, did you mean Equal Opportunities? I thought that was put out by some tiny press and now out of print. Did she get a contract with Random House? We had a book club chat about that one like a year or so ago. It is good!

Yes, that's the one. The imprint for the ebook says Random House.

The synopsis definitely will be clear about Stewart being a para. The intent of the covers was not to hide the disability. It's just how this one happened to turn out.
Also, the print covers will remain (and I'm changing the Breath(e) one to look more like (W)hole's), and those will be linked to the ebooks on Amazon.
The way I'm figuring it is that people who want dev books will know/learn to look for books published at Dev Love Press. (I need to get a newsletter sign up in place, but certainly the website will be up to date with all the books available). If you search for dev related books, you hit me pretty quickly, I think.
Then for people who are just browsing and looking for a new romance, they might try one of these books and, as others have said, realize that disabled guys can be sexy whether you're a dev or not.
For books in the future, I will base the covers on what other books like it in the market are like. Chick lit will look chick litty and historical fiction will look historical. Sometimes the disability will be clear on the cover and sometimes not depending on what I think is working.

That's what I figured. I know (W)hole popped up as recommended when browsing Equal Opportunities.

I'm thinking about using the new covers on paperback too now. Just so they all match. I hate feeling like I'm letting you down, Devogirl. I'll try the new covers for a while and if they aren't giving me good results, I'll go back to the originals. I have so much riding on this. I'm worried that I might lose my job. I really want this venture to be a success! Oh God, I'm so nervous I can barely sleep.

Why are you worried about your job? It doesn't have anything to do with your writing career, does it?

No, it doesn't. I'm working as a secretary/office manager and hoping to transition into full time writing and publishing.
But that transition might be a bit more rocky than I anticipated. The truth is, I'm terrible at my job. I keep trying and I keep failing, making mistakes that are hurting the company. They are so kind and I know they want to keep trying to make it work, but the stuff I'm doing really does not play to my strengths at all.
Every day I feel discouraged, frustrated, and hopeless. I hate not being good at what I do. Writing is a relief from that.
I don't know how much longer I can continue like this.

Awww. I'm sorry to hear that, Ruth. I struggled for a while myself doing a lot of things that I either wasn't that good at or didn't enjoy until I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to write and edit full time.
I hope everything works out for you with your current situation and with your writing and Dev Love Press!!

Some days, I'm great at my job; other days, I suck ass. It's hard because I have ADD and I am demonstrably better at anything I do when I'm engaged and busy. (Hence why writing SttS is so hard right now!)
The trouble is that when I'm NOT busy, things get lost in the vacuum very easily. Things like just compiling a list of postage charges, or writing three paragraphs you can get from a calendar. And when you can't seem to do the so-called simple tasks with any degree of success, you wonder how you'll ever get to do anything else.
There's a TON of guilt attached to this stuff. Very hard to deal with. So yes, Ruth, I feel your pain.

Oh Ruth, I personally think that your publishing business will be a success, it may take a bit of time to get up and running but I am sure that it will work out for you. Whole seems to have touched so many people that knew they had this attraction and your book lets them identify with someone for the first time. Something amazing for you to know YOU HAVE DONE. Skrew your job, you are fantastic at writing but it takes time to get a readership. I know that I get absolutely everything you bring out, I have Whole paperback and ebook and will not be able to resist getting the new version also. You just need to remember you have so much more going on in your life and are so much more than that job and that they are lucky to have you and should use your strengths and they are nuts not to!!!!!! What you are getting into is fantastic, just remember and hold on to that and be patient!!!!!!! It WILL HAPPEN FOR YOU!!!!
We are all behind you!!!!!!! <3

It's great to have friends My boss said that they will work with me to figure out how to improve the situation, so all is not lost yet! But within a couple of years I do want to shift over to working in writing and publishing exclusively. I think that's where my passion and my talent are.
