Ruth I don't know much about Dev Love Press yet but I think its awesome that you are working on it. I can imagine its incredibly hard; you are a dev, a writer and an office manager - not a publisher or an expert in marketing. All good things take time, pain and work. It will get there. Don't give up. Devs need the things you are doing.

And I'm learning so much about the marketing and loving every minute of it. Still, there's a moment that comes where you feel like you're diving off a cliff and you have no idea if there's any water below.

Oh no, Ruth! Don't feel like you're letting me down. It's your book, you should put the covers you want on it. I'm sorry you're feeling incompetent at work, that sucks but at least your boss is being supportive. That's huge. As for your writing, you're already successful. There is an audience out there--I'm sure the imprint will also be successful. You're welcome for the plug on Savage Love too

Ruth, I wanted to speak to your job situation. It's hard when we have jobs that challenge us in directions where we feel like our talents definitely don't lie. The job I have now started out that way but it's been very, very good for me and I've grown and learned a tremendous amount. It sounds like you're doing your best and they acknowledge that. Hopefully, you'll develop the skills you need to get better at it... if not then maybe something better will come along to fill the gap between full time job and full time publisher. Hang in there. Not many people reach out for their dreams with as much passion and perseverance as you've shown. It's admirable and obviously inspiring.

Thanks, Inigo. I don't think that I honestly want to get better at my job. I enter numbers into spreadsheets. That's it. That's my entire job (that and waiting for fedex packages to be delivered so I can sign for them). I've been doing it three years and I'm starting to get frightfully bored with it. The thing is, though, they pay me really well and they are very flexible and laid back in every aspect of corporate culture. I love that. But it's just hard to do something when you don't care about it. On the bright side, the entering numbers on spreadsheets has taught me a lot about accounting that I'll be able to utilize in my business!
