I hope everyone had a productive first day!!
I forgot I have ONE more tip for productive writing (it's something I often struggle with myself) - resist the urge to go back and revise/re-read... just keep plunging ahead and trust that you'll iron out any problems/inconsistencies later... it's the best way to make sure you keep writing instead of getting bogged down in what you already have!!

MAJOR confidence CRISIS although I know I have a good story I feel 1600 words or so in that it is BORING. I think it is the pressure (hand to forehead and deep sigh)

Today was much harder than yesterday. I managed a fair word count, and I really like the story, but it did not fly out of my brain through my fingertips like it did yesterday. I would not worry about boring, or even if it is good. Try to turn off the editor and just enjoy the ride. You can think about adding spice after December 1. Yes... Try to just keep writing. Remember, as Hemingway said, "The first draft of anything is shit."

Today really was harder. I have my whole scene list, and today I got hung up in details again -- bigger ones, like how much he can actually walk and what his mom's name is and all that. Blergh.
But I still plan to stay on pace tonight!

How is everyone doing so far? I know Annie already met her goal - WTG! I've been spending the past few days getting my outline/timeline straight. I'm at about 30K, plus or minus. That's where I stalled out last year, but hoping I can at least make the 50K goal by the end of the month, even if the book ends up being longer (which it likely will be). I posted an excerpt on my blog, if anyone is curious... chiealeman.com/nanowrimo-new-project-az-monster-excerpt/

are we going to see any of the NaNoWriMo novels on our blog this time? I'm so excited by the combined power of all those stories that have just come into being. its like a child who knows his parents have already got him a birthday gift but its hiding in the closet

I did it, I managed to catch up. I did 5049 words, grant you only giving me a safety of 6 words but it is such a relief. Thank goodness there are only 30 days in November. I think I will need a year to recover.
