Albeit it not being a homophone, this makes no sense to me: I don't occasionally not know... I think within the context of the whole sentence it works, right? I went back to reread and it still makes sense to me. "Not to say that I don't occasionally not know which is the word I want" It means that I sometimes make the homophone mistake. I used a negative construction. But that's not wrong, is it? I stand by my sentence writing!

To me, I try to write the way that I talk when I'm on a message board. That's a phrase that I use when I'm speaking, so *shrug*

The internet and instant messaging has murdered my grammar skills. Agreed. Instant messaging has definitely contributed to my terrible typing and lack of use of capital letters and apostrophes but its not the only reason I regularly make certain mistakes. Apologies to everyone here who notices my mistakes. I try to edit them when I notice.

I text and IM in full sentences, just like I type. And always will, dammit!

I text and IM in full sentences, just like I type. And always will, dammit! I'm like that, too. Pretty much the big exception is Twitter, since the character limitations force you to do some painful things sometimes.

"Not to say that I don't occasionally not know which is the word I want" I think if one wanted to be completely anal it should be: "Not to say that I don't occasionally not know which word it is I want" Now it would be 100% logical and correct *nerd alert* ;-)

Content/contend.
Extent/extend.
Missing capital letters in the beginning of sentences or in names.
Also, in my language, when people mistake:
I = you (plural)
i = in
du = you (singular)
de = they
De = you (polite form)
And how about heir/air (yes, I have seen that ;D)

Misuse of apostrophes does drive me nuts. To the point where I have been known to correct chalkboard signs at restaurants. Yes! I also correct signs. Ahem
