Why? Because one of the first titles is "Healing Hearts?" Lol
I know Awestruck Books had a line they called "Ennoble" which was all disability romance fiction.

This is definitely trauma porn:
"Have you ever woken up, day after day, to discover your body’s betrayal?"
*groan*
And this in the excerpt to Whisky Tango Foxtrot: "She waited while the driver set her bag inside and loaded Joe’s wheelchair with a hoist." A HOIST? WTF? Is he using a power chair that weighs 400 lbs? Why is there no ramp on this van that is taking them to a rehab center?
I'm sure the rest of the novel is written to this high standard of accuracy.
And yes, the "Sweet and Special Romances Collection" is also execrable, but so far the "collection" seems to consist of one self-published book. It's definitely not a series with a major publisher, thank god.

Wait -- the guy's name is Joe Anderson Cooper?
"Mom, Dad, I'd like you to meet my girlfriend. This is Annie Oprah Winfrey."

Well, I bought 'em. They weren't bad, but there's really nothing devvy about them. The theme isn't necessarily disabilities, although one heroine loses her hand and one hero is recovering from a broken leg and back. Basically, the theme is that Bad Shit Happens to the characters, but it's gonna be okay once they find a magically wonderful new friend who helps them heal.

I found this interesting in the submission guidelines:
What if she loves him and the fact that he doesn't have legs is an added bonus?? Sigh.
Well, that means I definitely can't submit my manuscript, lol. Not that I could anyway, since they don't allow simultaneous submissions and they cap their manuscripts at 65K...

Well, now I'm adding them to Inigo Montoya's List of Arbitrary Anger ... so far, it had just been men on the list. JW, does dude walk again without impairment?

So they have a "no devs allowed" policy. What BS, at least our books are researched properly. Whatever, I have no desire to read trauma porn.

Woah, I missed that part!
Whatever, I know how to market these books WAY better than they do. I know how to appeal to devs and non devs alike and exactly what both sides find appealing in these stories.

Yeah, way to alienate a big chunk of your potential readers! In their haste to paint us as creepy weirdos they forget that we would buy these books if they were good. I guess they never heard of the "amputee bump" haha.

Yeah, I think that's really stupid. I know from having non-devs read my books that they can really, really enjoy them and find the male MC very sexy!! So to them. Besides, unless you're a "Big 6," who doesn't allow simultaneous submissions??

A small operation that doesn't have time to read all the submissions. I took a look and they only want up to 25k for the Challenge line.
