Yeah women generally love to do that shopping thing, but as a guy you just have to make sure you're going to be ok with wearing what they pick. I went shopping with a couple of women colleagues from work for a Vegas trip, and they did pick some cool clothes but there's no way I was going to wear about 50% of their choices.........I dress pretty boring so flashy to me is not really all that flashy.

Whoa, it was not until I started looking for recent pictures of myself did I realize I don't have many to choose from! Sorry in advance if some seem "tacky", but it's all I have. Below are two of the "fashion challenged" guy (me) taken two years ago in my Quickie Revolution with "accessories" This one was taken two months ago in my TiLite, sans "accessories" . OK ladies, I'm ready for fashion tips.

I'm ready for fashion tips. What you wear does depend on where you are and what you're doing. What I wear to a concert is not the same as when I'm teaching a seminar. Your clothes in these pics might be just fine for what you're doing. It looks like you're outside. It might be hot. Those girls look like they're dressed real casual. I think you're doing alright here. I, personally, would wear longer shorts and I do avoid white t-shirts. I just think they're too bland -- especially "give-away" t-shirts. Y'know, with somebody's logo on them. The exception to this is if you're attending a work-related event and the logo is your company, etc. Like I said, it's all about your environment. Given where you are in these shots, I'd say you're pretty good to go.

Of course, discretion and guidance is required. You're the one wearing the clothes and you have to be you. At the same time, if you're getting help from a couple women, like you did, whose opinions you trust, then you may want to push your comfort envelope slightly. They might be right. And after all, what's the point of seeking their advice if you're just going to stick with what you would have worn without them?

I think you're looking good in those photos. White t-shirt, khaki shorts, you can't go wrong. Good for you for wearing shorts--I don't think they're too short. And short socks with sneakers, also good. But what stands out to me is that in 2 random photos taken years apart, you are wearing the exact same thing. Hm, I hope you have other looks. You really need at least one pair of real shoes, not sneakers, preferably one pair in black and one in brown. So do you have a job where you need to look professional? Or are you after a more casual look all the time?

for work & just schlepin around i will be in a solid colored tee-shirt...no logos except 1 raider nation black & gray shirt w/ the raiders logo,,,,during cold weather change that to solid colored pullover sweaters,,,for a night out black on top is the rule...i should do more blue cuz then my eyes show up kinda like lazers,,,lol,,not MY evaluation but often heard....topped w/ my butt-ugly black hat that everyone else sez really sets off my silver hair in a positive way,,,,pants,,,all are black,,,either denim or casual cotton fabric...black loafers,,,,as i said before, my chair is utilitarian & i have no desire to make a fashion statement w/ it...its a simple red quickie LX w/ black mags, arm rests, & upholstery...ill keep trying to get a decent picture scanned in...my son-n-law figured out why my new digi-cam wasnt working right so after a trip to officemax i might get somebody to take a cpl pix,,,but honestly i dont photograph well

Sweet ride, quite the accessory. Can you tell us about the trophies? (the ones you're holding, that is!)

Or are you after a more casual look all the time? Devogirl, Excellent observation with a little explanation. I am a T4-5 para, and since the human body has a natural "thermostat" at T-6 I tend to get a tad uncomfortable at anything other than 68-76 degrees. So in the summer I tend to wear white to reflect heat, while in the winter I wear black. I do tend to vary colors of short, green, tan, khaki. As for work, yes I do have to dress semi-professional. As for shoes, yes I have others, but rarely wear them as they tend to bruise my heels easily. Your input is greatly appreciated. My god, I just realized I'm discussing fashion in a public forum! Either I'm on a path to enlightenment or it's time to chew on a 9MM.

Sweet ride, quite the accessory. Can you tell us about the trophies? (the ones you're holding, that is!) Sidney, The tropheys were for "special interest" and "Sponsors choice" at a local car show. My small claim to fame is making a set of handcontrols to drive the 5 speed DeTomaso Pantera and have since helped four other "wheelers" do the same. I see your up in BC, I attend the annual Seattle Italian Concours and plan on attending the run to Birch Bay next year. If you tend to be a "car guy" and have an interest on the subject do a google search for "Parapantera", that's me.

My god, I just realized I'm discussing fashion in a public forum! Either I'm on a path to enlightenment or it's time to chew on a 9MM. No way! It just means you're comfortable enough to ask for advice--nothin wrong with that, and it doesn't make you a girl. As for fashion being the road to enlightenment, hm, I wish. But back to your question, don't think there is anything wrong with your shorts/t shirt combo, or having colors limited to khaki, white, and black. You could even branch out into brown or blue, but don't worry about wearing only a few colors, it's fine. I think your best bet for work is to have a small wardrobe of really high-quality basic items (rather than a closet full of cheap, trendy crap). It's worth it to pay more if you wear it a lot, and higher quality things will last longer. As for buying this stuff, you should probably enlist the help of some female friends (as you say you've done in the past). Really pay attention to the details: go for natural cotton, wool, or silk, make sure there are no loose threads, and make sure it really fits well. Go for a classic look, rather than something trendy that will be out of date next year (again ask your friends for advice on the details here). If everything is ok except for one thing (eg, color is good but it's just a little baggy) don't get it. I know this process of trying things on and being really picky is a pain, but if you get the right things and wear them for years, you won't have to do it very often. About the shoes, if they hurt your feet, try to find some that fit better. Wearing shoes rather than sneakers makes all the difference; it can make even a casual outfit look more put together. If you really can't wear leather shoes, try some that are like a cross between sneakers and shoes, in black. I've seen a lot more of these kinds of hybrid shoes lately. Canvas or cloth might irritate your feet less than leather. Also some shoe stores or shoe repair places have rollers and stretchers that can break leather shoes in for you and make them softer.

Hand made jeans will always look dorky. Makes sense for ABs, but what about wheelers? If my butt doesn't look good in them no one will know. Most of my problems are with the material so I liked the suggestion, even though it means a trip to a place that is the source of so many terrible childhood memories: the fabric store.......
