Anybody have advice on jeans? I have 3 problems with jeans. One issue is thickness. Jean material is very stiff and thick and difficult for me to grab and move. Another problem is the puffiness in the waist area when I sit. The third problem is that I have found some very thin and light jeans (I don't think they are made of jean material), but they make my legs look skinny and they only come in 34 length max. Since I am always sitting I get extra long pants, 36.

Third vote for grey, silver or black chair. Clean lines, simple, sharp.

agree...one should never underestimate the sexiness of black... My personal preference:sporty looks, lightweight, and of course...the need for easy straddling when the time comes

Matisse, find yourself a nice tailor and make friends with him. You can probably get jeans made to order out of the fabric you prefer for less than you can buy them in the store.

Anybody have advice on jeans? Thank you Matisse for being the first to avail yourself of our services! We are here to help. Buying jeans is tricky for anyone. Because there are 1000s of styles and the material is very stiff, buying jeans is more like buying shoes. If you take the time to try on lots of different pairs, you will be more likely to find some that really fit properly. I like to buy jeans at Old Navy and Gap because they have so many different styles and cuts, and usually the material is different in each one. If you have difficulty trying them on in changing rooms or you just don't like going to the mall, shop online and try them on at home. Now that I live in BFE, I've been buying everything from clothes to food online. You want jeans that are not too tight in the leg. Look for words like "relaxed" or "bootcut" (which means it flares slightly below the knee). Stay away from "slim fit" obviously, even "straight leg" styles might be too tight. I like these ones at J. Crew: www.jcrew.com/catalog/category.jhtml?id=cat120055&_requestid=43986They sit a little lower on the waist, which is a style worth trying. Less fabric at the waist might mean less bunching up. You might also try jeans with a little spandex to make them stretchy. It also makes the fabric feel softer. They will be stiff right after washing, but after wearing for a few hours they get very soft. Lands End has one: www.landsend.com/cd/fp/prod/0,,1_2_1931_58858_137558_115973_5:view=-1,00.html?CM_MERCH=PAGE_37217&sid=8637166244405140690 They will also hem them to any length you want. Their sizes run a little bigger than most stores (in my experience) so it's worth measuring yourself and checking their size chart. Finally, I appreciate the services of a good tailor, and have made some clothing myself, but I do NOT recommend getting jeans made. You can get a sharp looking suit made for you, but not jeans. It's hard to find the right kind of denim at the fabric store, and the tailor will not be able to make the heavy seams or put on rivets. Hand made jeans will always look dorky.

The only jeans that I like post-injury are from American Eagle. Go with the boot cut but avoid the low rise unless you want to show some serious crackage. As far as chairs go...titanium, black cushion and upholstery, black spinergy's, black backpack, and red kenda tires.

Yes, I'll add my fourth vote for the chair colors. In addition, the chair should be kept clean. No one should be able to see what you had on Thanksgiving. That spot between the seat and armrest is notorious for this.

I think I have the chair thing down, TiLite ZR with black upholstery and all black Spinergy wheels with two piece billet casters, carbon fiber back and Aspen Seating cushion.
Where I really need help is picking out clothes! In fact I suck so bad that I beg female friends to go clothes shopping and pick stuff out. So you Dev girls, pick out something that would look "killer" on a 42 year old para.

Gladly, but it would help to know what you look like and what kind of look you're going for. Please post some photos, or at the very least, describe yourself in detail. And are you looking for professional or casual clothes? For what kinds of occasions?

So you Dev girls, pick out something that would look "killer" on a 42 year old para. I've found that women normally love to do this. It's shopping, playing dress-up, helping, and spending someone else's money simultaneously. Any woman I've ever asked to shop with me has been greatly flattered and excited. I'm sure you'll have no problem. But posting a picture here can get you the advice for some preliminary ground rules to offer your shopping advisor.
