Final Fantasy, there is something about that cartoon guy that makes me forget he is.

Directly due to this thread, I'm currently watching The Princess Bride! Yet to reach the scene in question

I was just watching something that made me remember reading this tread a ways back. For me mer-men, especially mer-men out of the water, give me quite a bit of the "dev tingle". Not really something I usually think about, since its pretty rare to see mermen featured in anything, in my experience. I guess it makes sense though, since a mer-man out of water is basically disabled from the waist down. :-)

i can see the mer-man thing. this one is a bit more out of left field, but sorta similar? i know we talked about it before in a dev chat… and i swear i wasn't the only one! centaurs. lol! it's not the animal thing, but i think it's the division of upper and lower into two different entities. not a subject of fantasy, but when i see one in a movie it gives me a bit of a jolt.

Those two are interesting examples. I think I could get a dev twinge from a mer-man. Where did you see something about one of them out of water? The centaur would also trigger something but slightly different. When thinking about amputees (especially a guy with multiple higher level amputations) I think a lot about what it feels like to be in a body shaped differently than mine. When contemplating the centaur thing similar things pop up in my mind.

I had not thought about centaurs...now I can't stop thinking about them. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "hoofing around", doesn't it? I for one regret the extremely poor participation rates by centaurs on this forum. Post, centaurs! In this case I will suspend my previously held distaste for naked pics. Eta: This post is 52 words of brain vomit. Now 61.

Pij02, up until now I've never given a merman an ounce of thought, in or out of the water. Now... I can't get the idea out of my head! Very devvy indeed!

I know right? The show I saw a merman on is an Australian kids show called Mako Mermaids. The guy that hit my dev buttons is the lead merman played by 26 year old Chai Romruen. I took the liberty of grabbing a few clips from the first season and uploading them to my Google Drive for you guys, if your interested. (Sorry its not perfect quality but it was the best I could find) The show is also on Netlfix. The link to view and download is: drive.google.com/file/d/0B866_jeUBGpNekZIekdKVDhia1U/view?usp=sharing

Oh, yes! Mako Mermaids!! My youngest daughter watches that and she's the one I think has definite dev tendencies. The boys ARE pretty cute in that show, though

What's with the vampire thing. I love it too. Any Beauty and the Beast adaptions get me too. This pretty weird. Must be a connections some how. Anyone see the movie The Saint? Val Kilmer was really devy to me. Maybe because he was supposed to be so damaged.

lately, it's been jason ritter doing a guest appearance on the hbo show "girls". in most scenes he has been sitting down (and looking good!) and i can't help imagining him as a older, better looking (with a much-improved haircut!) kevin girardi from joan of arcadia. then it gets me to thinking about how hot "kevin" would be getting as he gets older... sigh. it was a small thing but enough to nudge me out of a nice dev lull i'd been enjoying!!

ohh... yeah, Owen Hunt is so devvy! There is a tv show, pretty violent but the main character (not pwd at all) is so angsty that it almost devvy: Banshee. Anime: my god, anyme was my first contact with my dev side. Who, from my generation, wasnt "in love" with Racer X from Speed Racer? There is an old movie with Omar Shariff, called "The Horsemen" Bitten: a werewolf tv show; they are pretty angsty. The Originals: Vampires (not a great tv show) but damn, Elijah is sooo devvy. Same happens to me with Damon from Vampire diaries (that and the fact that Ian Sommerhalder is a perfect para in my mind ) In books, take the vampire books from "The black Dagger Brotherhood"... hot.

The Disillusionist Trilogy by Carolyn Crane. One of the characters is confined to a restaurant. He is "disabled" by the restaurant holding him prisoner. Sounds goofy, but he can never leave or alter the restaurant in any way. Like, if he tries to bring in a bed to sleep, it will disappear. Or if he gets angry and trashes the place, it will go back to its pristine condition. He cannot go outside and see the sun. And the heroine is an obsessive hypochondriac, but that eventually becomes a power she uses to mind-f*ck the bad guys.
The first book in the series, Mind Rush, starts out slow, but I'm glad I stuck with it. It's one of my all-time favorite urban fantasyish series.
