lately, it's been jason ritter doing a guest appearance on the hbo show "girls". in most scenes he has been sitting down (and looking good!) and i can't help imagining him as a older, better looking (with a much-improved haircut!) kevin girardi from joan of arcadia. then it gets me to thinking about how hot "kevin" would be getting as he gets older... sigh. it was a small thing but enough to nudge me out of a nice dev lull i'd been enjoying!! I watched Joan of Arc all the time as a kid. My mom always wondered why I was so into it.

Omg, me too. And my mom always thought the same thing. How funny.

All 15 seasons of E.R...whatever broken Joe with a pretty face that appeared there.
Asthma turns me on, cute guys sucking their inhalers, its not pwd right??
9 and a half weeks movie, the scene where he covers her eyes and tease her neck with ice cubes, cool idea for sex with a guy who can only feel from the neck up, and the food scene, when she closes her eyes and he feeds her several things, cuz for me the feeding of a pwd who can't do it by himself is a hot hot hot fetish!!!

All 15 seasons of E.R...whatever broken Joe with a pretty face that appeared there. Damn ER was good! In one of the last seasons one of the main characters has an accident and looses both legs, of course they took him out of the show and he reappears only as a guest star in one episode... most devvy episode I can remember... Grey's Anatomy is devvy as hell too, there are a few epic dev moments... too bad I hate most of the characters. ER was waaaay better!!! EDIT: I just realized I went completely off topic but I was overwhelmed by good old memories...

Do you find that actors that you don't like playing PWDs/ppl getting injured, can turn the Dev switch off? My first devvy film was Born on the 4th of July, back in '89 when I was a young whippersnapper, but Tom Cruise was just so vomit-inducing that he basically spoilt the whole film for me. Now if they'd put Willem Dafoe as leading man, I could have really enjoyed it. I don't like Tom Cruise, but I still quite enjoyed that film. I guess it depends, if it was an actor I really seriously deeply hate and a disability I don't particularly dig probably my reaction would be a bit meh...

I like Tom Cruise so much. I remember I watched Born on The Fourth of July over and over again.
Vanilla Sky is my second favorite. Watched Tom Cruise disfigured and gimpy really push my dev button

The Princess Bride does it to me every single time. Westley was probably my first ever encounter with being a dev. My mother, who's been aware of my preferences for a while now, brought it up at a dinner party not too long ago. I was so amused and mortified at the same time! I know I'm late to the party, but oh my gosh YES. Princess Bride over and over ---sure there's the oh-so-quoteable dialogue, but the dev bonus seals the deal. I'm generally suckered into wounded protagonist sub plots. Like Tristan and isolde ---the wound care scene? Super hot.

Another late party crasher. Great thread, Valkyrja. Like you guys mentioned already, the Beauty and the Beast theme. More specific, "Beauty and the Beast", the first season of the show, where Vincent (Jay Ryan) is sporting a large scar on his face. He is so broken, vulnerable, and oh so sexy, it melted my heart. Watching this show last year was the thing that retriggered my dev soul-searching and helped me eventually find this place. Because many of you mentioned vampires, I found it very appealing when Eric Northman is cursed with amnesia and Sookie has to take care of him (This is in "Dead to the World", the 4th volume of Charlaine Harris's "Southern Vampire Mysteries"). His macho personality is radically transformed and he is as sweet as a puppy. I had no idea I could fall so hard for a book character.

Absolutely, and I couldn't agree more about Tom Cruise, I don't get that he's good looking and I always think he can only play Tom Cruise. Born on the 4th of July should have been devtastic for me but soooooo wasn't. Off the TV and film theme, and I don't really know how to describe this... when a guy sits cross legged with the ankle of one leg on top of the knee of the other then holds it there by the ankle or calf. Gets my dev buzz going every time. R.

I found Born on the Fourth of July too traumatic to be devvy, tbh. I mean....that whole generation of young men and their families, in so many countries, were just broken.
But +1 for asthma. Gael Garcia Bernal as an asthmatic Che Guevara? GGhhhhnnnnarrghhh. Also, a few guys at my gym are asthmatics...so much hotness, even for the not especially hot ones...

I'd forgotten about how much I loved that particular book and how it was definitely devvy for me! Ahhh- to have my own Eric Northman....

Definitely +1 for vampires!
I used to watch Dying Young over and over and over again and remember feeling super guilty about feeling attracted to the sick guy. Not sure if that movie still does the trick for me after watching it so many times though.
More recently, I find Joseph Gordon-Levitt very devvy in 50/50.

Dying Young was the main source for my "guilt" for years. It was more traumatic than enjoyable... I must have been like 10-11(?) so no wonder. Long long before I knew devness was a thing.

That (fresh) surgery scar at the end always makes me shiver, but it would make a beautiful scar when healed. On second thought I don't think it's devvy to me though, I probably just liked the movie and the cast.

That movie killed me. Now I remember. I thought I would not contribute to this thread. But that movie..oh dear. I was older than you Ath but it was so devy for me too. The toilette scenes? Just remembering them now...
