Hey fellow writers, out of curiosity, when do you guys and gals write on your projects? For me it is so difficult to find time with work, family, household, pets, friends and what not to find time to write. I have a day off and I plan to only work on my writing and then I end up vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom or having to walk my dogs and such, sometime during the day thinking about dinner.... I wish I could just sit and write and not have to worry about anything else. When do you write? How do you do it? Happy Writing to you! Dani

I only write periodically but I can write anywhere as long as I'm left alone, on breaks, the train home from work, in the morning before dude wakes up etc. Problem is when I only write for 5-10 minutes a time I cant let go of the story and it becomes difficult to concentrate on work.

I need at least a day purely to myself before I even get anywhere near in the zone. But I think it might also be because I'm lazy with it sometimes and don't hold myself to a routine. I have various stuff that I write, which I leave alone for ages, like months at a time. Then I come back to it, fall in love with again, then go moderately nuts. I'm a little embarrassed to admit it's only recently that I've let myself be less constrained when I write sexy stuff...like just get what I actually want down on paper, instead of mentally editing and re-editing. Very freeing

For me, I get into a writing mood and will write sometimes numerous pages in a sitting, and then nothing for several days. I don't like to force a story by staring at the screen and getting nowhere, but also, if I'm on a roll, it's hard to put the laptop down and call it a night. I don't have any particular times or days or anything, but I find the best times are when there are no other distractions around. me too when the muse visits capure ideas even a few rough notes insomnia helps - i do it at 4-8am

I write late at night, before I go to bed. I write on Saturdays and Sundays when I wake up "early". If I have five minutes while my work is churning, I'll write on my phone. I can pick up fiction an put it backed own again. I plan on the bus, while I'm walking and occasionally when Im driving or cleaning.

I write for myself only and I don't have a lot of time to do so. It requires some effort and the right writing mood, so I only do it when I'm alone with a lot of free time ahead. It often happens to be Sunday night when I've finished everything for university. My urge to write lessened when I met my bf, partly because writing is/was a way of pleasing my dev feelings, partly because I spend my free time with him instead of writing. However I keep writing, just not as frequently.

I write as much as I can. Lately I have found I actually get a lot of good writing done early in the morning, which has never been a peak writing time for me. But it's one reason I love google docs, bc I can edit anywhere I have internet access and the changes are instant.

yeah and you got all the useful stuff in it from word count to spelling and text color fonts etc etc. I actually started using it bc it was so great to collab with other writers in. You can add comments, comment on each others' comments, and even chat within the document. I don't do as much collab as I used to, but I still really love using the comments feature to leave myself notes or point out a section that isn't working, or just an idea I might have, all within the same document. I suppose, in theory, you could do that with track changes in something like word, or with the notecard feature in Scrivner, but I just love Gdocs accessibility.

I might try that, now I just mark text that needs to be edited or moved with a red color but its destracting.
