Well, so I was googling a search term and a page came up from the apparelyzed.com forum. One active member has the following as his/her signature: Pretenders, wannabees, devotees, etc. We are aware of your game and will not cater to any of your falsehoods. Leave us alone and collaborate with fellow predators at: paradevo.proboards43.com.Concentrating solely on the reference to devotees, I have to admit, I was VERY hurt, and indignant for the members of this board. So ladies, did you realize that you were predators? *sigh* This is not new to me, but I haven't seen it in a while, and every time I do, it hurts. Anyone else still get hurt by this kind of thing or is it just me? Edited to fix typo.

Was the message recent? If it makes you feel any better, it's old news. We discussed it here at least: paradevo.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1134719955Or something along those lines. The exact reference to that sig file might be in a different thread, but I can't bring myself to spend the time looking it up. I know it's hurtful, but you can't let it get you down. First, there's no such thing as bad publicity, some of our current very active members came over to see what the fuss was all about. Second, don't let the haters inform your own self-image. You know what kind of person you are--don't let some comments said in ignorance and fear diminish you. Often people who say things like that are filled with self-loathing and are trying to spread it around. Third, even though the owner seems like a nice, dev-friendly guy, Apparalyzed is notorious for harboring dev-haters. Don't go there if you are feeling sensitive. If people want to cling to their prejudices, there's not much you can do.

There's always someone out to piss on someone else...Dev's just happen to get hit sometimes...just like us wheelers, Jews, African-Americans, the Irish, Hispanics, GLBTs etc. get disrespect as well sometime.
Using paradevo to convey their point doesn't make sense...when I was first learning about Devs, I saw some more...ahem...'predatory' groups.

I am guessing some of those who think this way would change their mind if they actually met us.....

hi claire. that very same signature line really got my goat when i came across it too. lol i happened upon it at a time when i was feeling ultra sensitive, i think. here's the thread if you're interested: paradevo.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1165162136but it's the comments and people like that which just make me all the more grateful for this place and the people here. i love devogirl's perspective on the whole thing.

Yeah Dolly girl, i'm grateful for this place, too. I think the 'predator' remark is just brain-dead. i think the girl/girl should have to go on Al Sharpton show and explain...uh, like Imus guy had to!! Again, society accepts the fact we aren't REALLY accepted. There's no Civil Rights Movement for chair guys.
