*********************************************************** Found this site from a link on another about "predators", after reading for hours i see how screwed up thier point of view is !!! I'm a para since 21, 42 now. Due to stupid Dr.in 2001, I'm now missing my entire right leg !! But I'm hard to kill, 3 years in bed to recover from the amputation and the VRE they gave me. I'm getting better and better everyday, and starting to kick ass at pool again !!! This seems to be a great place, I look forward to fun times. ......................................................enjoying today, 1femur ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Welcome, 1femur. I was upset about the "predators" thing myself. I guess Devogirl was right after all about "any publicity is good publicity!" You're right, this is a great place.

Would that be the sig file from some hater on Apparalyzed? Thanks for taking the time to read so much, and keeping an open mind about us. That's what makes this site worthwhile

hi 1femur.
i'd like to echo devogirls sentiments and thank you for taking the time to learn what we are really all about.
geez, sounds like you have had a rough go of it healthwise. glad you are on the mend, and welcome to the paradevo board!

Welcome to the board. We hope you like it here. Sorry about you having to lose a body part.
VRE (another fun hospital aquired infection related to a medical 'professional' NOT washing their hands). It's a worse version of MRSA (methcillin resistant staph) MRSA IS killed by vancomycin. VRE is vancomycin resistant. In either case, it sucks.

Ah, so I was correct with the med. details...had to deal with MRSA myself at one point, nasty business.

Hi 1Femur. I'm new here too. Bad thing the fight against the VRE, but the good thing is that you defeated it! Forgive my question but... what's the meaning of "predator" (guess you're not talking about the savage animals)

'Predator' is being used in a similar sense, some people do not like that there are Devotees, and refer to them as akin to predators (like animals hunting for prey); a sentiment not endorsed here.

Thanks, Wind, for clarify my lack of knowledge. And you are absolutely right. I don't understand how a dev can be a predator. I know a lot of women who are predator and they are not Devotees!!

i want to say welcome and that they are some devos that are the stalker types and some of the wheelers have had really bad run ins with them so the whole devo comunity gets a bad name from it. everyone that I have mett on here seems to be nice.. If i could just get the women to flirt with me i would be in heaven lol ...

Yes, Devotees (female at least) are typically not 'Predators', but there are some malwise thinking ones (typically males stalking female amputees) who can be like 'predators' at times, but here at paradevo, we stay away from that kind of behaviour.

Welcome! And I too am glad that you took the time to read. When I found out there were other people like me, and that there was a name for IT, all I found on the web were the predatory types (predominantly males) and I was mortified. But eventually I found this board, and it has become a safe haven with like minded devs and a few wheelers who don't paint all devs with the same broad strokes. Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome everyone !!! And yes, the VRE was a hard battle !! I sure hope VRE and MRSA never combine into a superbug, doubt that could be beat...It was Apparalyzed, it said something like "we are aware of your kind, join the rest of the predators at paradevo.net". .................................................................alive, not kickin',1femur
