Is there a link to a book list I missed?
Sorry I forgot to answer this earlier. A member used to maintain lists of books and movies off the board that she distributed by email, but that was several years ago. There was some talk recently about creating a new list but I don't think anyone has done it yet.
FYI Goodreads has many lists of books about characters with various disabilities.

devvy books: "A new life" by Bonnie Dee - the main character has a limp and a TBI, it did push my buttons so I recommend for a quick and easy read when you're on a dev high I don't usually go for the romance genre, but I'm on such a dev high at the moment, so I gave New Life a shot. It was fun! I'm seconding this recommendation by em ! I listened to the audiobook. Only about five hours -- it was my running book for the past week, haha. Also, there's also a sequel! It's called "New Year." I'm glad! Yeah, the sequel is very short but as Devogirl said, it seems like she wrote a lot. Nothing else right up my alley though. Interesting, I seem to only find romance books devy (although I have "Six of crows" on my list) - do you have a recommendation for another genre?

Haven't read it yet, but a new release that came across my inbox (Amazon knows me too well!) is "My True Love"- Jules Steele. I think you might like this book – "My True Love: Jules Steele (The Steeles at Silver Island Book 2)" by Melissa Foster. Start reading it for free: a.co/gIjx6XpSummary makes it sound like an amp war vet returns to his hometown. Am planning on checking it out but wanted to share! Pseudo read this one. I did my Kindle quick key word search and skimmed. Not devvy at all for me and lots of self loathing from the male MC. Cute, fluffy, and predictable so maybe a good pick up for a quick read.

I read another book! www.amazon.co.uk/Below-Belt-Baums-Boxing-Book-ebook/dp/B07MGWBD6Y/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=baum+below+the+belt&qid=1618849121&sr=8-2It's again a romance, my first M/M in a looong time. It has a character with SCI and a character who lost an eye and had some issues related to a TBI (not mental impairment though) The SCI character wasn't very devvy. He was ex-military, and it wasn't clear what his injury was exactly, it affected him differently in every scene but there was no explanation for this. I won't spoil it but it wasn't described consistently and I found it a bit annoying. However, I have descovered a new interest in partial blindness in the other character. Overall I enjoyed it, I think there is also a sequel with a fully blind character, also M/M, and a 3rd book which I'm not sure has any disabled protagonists.

Me again! I'm not sure how devvy this will be, but tomorrow Amy Harmon is releasing a new fantasy book which is featuring a blind character. Since I love her writing, I have pre-ordered to have something to read when I go on holiday, so I'll let you know my impression. I know some negative opinions about her have been given here, but still thought I'd let you know.
(I forgot to say, the title is "the second blind son", and it's a sequel of another book within the universe, but it can probably be read as a standalone)

Thanks! I'm always looking for something new. I looked this up though and it seems the blind character can see by magic, and has other magical abilities as well. Ugh...one of the cliches I hate the most...it's very rare to find it done well and not just infuriating. Please do let us know what you think of it.

devogirl i totally get you, I only started reading but it seems so far that it's no as literal, i.e. he doesn't get cured by magic or sth... I generally like that any Harmon writes more complex prose with deeper meaning, which is why I read her books, but of course she doesn't have our dev insight and can always inadvertently be a bit ableist with the best intentions. @amelia I get that too, but when you find a gem (like Annabelle's books for example) then it's worth it! I usually read through the Amazon sample first, which is the strongest filter. If it gets my attention, I'll bookmark it for later, if I feel like reading it later then I'll buy it, but then search for disability related keywords or skim through it, and if it doesn't seem good I return it lol It is a bit of a waste of time actually, but when a dev desire rears up,there is no quenching it until I do some reading and thinking, so nothing I can do about it

Found a new book that was shared on the WAGS of SCI page. I think you might like this book – "Someone You Love: A Forced Proximity Summer Romance" by Kristen Granata. Start reading it for free: a.co/bmyqheTI read it and enjoyed it. Former NFL star described as a Jason Momoa look alike (from the Patriots- woohoo hometown pride!) suffers a spinal cord injury that prevents him from playing football. His injury is never fully described, but he can walk and uses a cane and has good days and bad which sometimes land him in a wheelchair. He meets our main character who is trying to finish a bucket list she created with her mom who died of cancer before the book started. Definitely a cute read. i didn't find it particularly devvy- there were times when the injury was very present and others (mostly sexy scenes) where it wasn't. It was obvious that the author did her research and did not fall into the trope of self-loathing injured hero. If anyone else picks it up, I'll be curious what anyone else thinks!

I read a real story on the internet. It has been a while. i could not find it anymore. If anyone has the link, please let me know.
The story is about a young woman , she went to a church gathering in another city, and had a great time there. After she came back home, She decided to write a thank you note via email to the church saying how much she enjoyed the activities.
A few weeks later, she got a reply from that church, thanking her for the thoughtful email and encouraged her to participate in future events . So she wrote back and asked about the future activities. All these time, she did not know whom she was talking with, only that he was someone working for the church and his name is so and so.
They traded emails infrequently, all about church activities, nothing personal at all. Yet the way he wrote was very funny and smart. Gradually, his personality emerged through his writing and she felt attracted to him.
Time went by, the emails became personal and romantic, and she felt he was a leader in their conversation, and she fell for his wit and humor. Later, he revealed to her that he was a quad from a traffic accident, and what his daily life had been living with a severe disability. The way he introduced the subject was so skillful that she was not as shocked. They ended up meeting in person, dating and marrying.

Just finished The Coward by Jarred McGinnes. Very good and fired up my devnesses. Written by a PWD, great sense of humour. Told in flashbacks. I loved it

I loved it Man I like supporting people and their books especially devvy books but it’s $10.99 on kindle! That seems like a lot (and now I feel like a cheapskate, lol)

It probably be really cheap in a few months.

I looked it up and came across this thread: www.reddit.com/r/RomanceBooks/comments/p7mgt2/anyone_else_finding_that_plagiarism_in_the_indie/Apparently there was a very similar book a couple months earlier, but the other one doesn't seem to have a PwD character, so I think I'll check this one out soon. (EDIT: it doesn't seem to be available on Kindle and is out of print... I wondered if they retracted it because of the possible plagiarism? Will keep an eye out and will also see what the other book is about) I just read "Until it fades" by K.A. Tucker, because I was promised there is an injury throughout the book, but it was just a broken leg so not fully devvy. A decent book though so may do if you are desperate haha I also finally read "The high horse bastard" which you guys were raving about and... I'm not the biggest fan. It did leave me wanting more for sure, but aside from the story itself leaving a few gaps to fill, I found these devvy descriptions too detailed, I was struggling to visualise the technicalities instead of enjoying them... but maybe that's because I'm a fast reader so I might revisit them later with more focus. I also wish there were more descriptions of e.g. how the character walks. But nonetheless it had a few little things that sparked my imagination so I understand why it was highly praised on here, I hope the author produces more content like this (I think she had a website with short stories which is gone, and her other books don't seem so much up my alley).

Whoa, that's crazy about the plagiarism! Yet another reason I've decided to read a lot less romance lately.
You're not the only one who is critical of High Horse Bastard. I found it a huge disappointment. It's a good start that goes nowhere. The dude with CP goes on and on about how much accommodation he needs, how the girl needs to accept all these things about him, but in the end he just needs a few carefully positioned pillows while they have sex. And despite saying in a self-referential moment that she wants to write a romance novel that doesn't flinch about disability, the sex scenes are all fade to black. She totally flinched.
You can find the author's Twitter from her Goodreads page but she doesn't mention publishing more. Maybe she'll get back to it later? I know how it is, life takes over and it can be hard to find time to write.
Anyway I just discovered a wonderful new historical mystery series set it Wales in the 1850s with blind guy main character, it's the Teifi Valley Coroner series by Alis Hawkins. It's refreshing for me to read something that's not romance, and the writing is really good, not cliched.
