Finished another new (to me) cute one. After Fallen by Whitney Walker. I loved the story. Typical romance story but dang I wish she has expanded on some scenes for more details.

queenkala I got it on kindle in the US. That's crazy that it's not on kindle in the UK. You can set up an account with Amazon in other countries, I have an Amazon UK account and have purchased many things from them even with a US credit card. Probably because the book is not out yet in the UK? I just checked and found it available on German amazon. The release date for the UK is listet as the 21st, so hopefully the kindle version will soon follow.

So I started working my way through some of the books suggested. I loooooved Six of Crows and its sequel, I didn’t think I would find that limping character devvy but I somehow did. Maybe it’s just that it was so well written!
But I will also go on record with a controversial opinion: I read the first 2 Neve&Egan books and I hated them, I actually regretted buying the second in the vain hope it would be better. The dialogue is clunky and taken straight out of some bad crime tv show, the plot predictable and both main characters are so unpleasant and irritating. I didn’t even find it that devvy despite having a blind character doing blind things every other page, because he’s just BORING. He’s like 40 years old but speaks like a 90 year old. We’re told he’s rude, cold and has no friends but all he does is be helpful, sweet and express his feelings. He’s also kinda whiny. I’m not even going to comment on the girl character, because I only wish she was real so I could physically punch her in the face. Okay rant over. But I was scarred by those books and I had to tell someone

And thank you for why you didn't like these other books, I'm always grateful for such details as they make all the difference for me.

It was strangely devvy for me... Hard to explain, but the MC is cursed and then has to be tied down every night to stop him from turning into a beast. It is so hard to explain WHY it was devvy for me. Maybe it is the way Leigh Bardugo writes but I LOVE IT. Also, just finished reading the 4th book on the Irons and Works series- Bio-Mechanical. It follows the double leg amp character and holy steam!! VERY sexy and definitely some dev moments.

Thank you Celaena I definitely intend to make my way through all the Grishaverse books in time! I'm waiting (im)patiently for Black Sun to come out. I looked up Irons & Works... well it seems like mostly a romance series, maybe I'm wrong. It might make me a bad person idk, but I found out I don't enjoy M|M romance, maybe I can't identify with it? I hope it doesn't make me shallow or god knows what, but I can't force myself to enjoy things that do nothing for me. I also strongly dislike romance books in general, especially if there's a lot of sex in it. It's not my genre. I prefer when the romantic subplot is on the side and the book is about something else.

I am usually reading a romance and something more in depth at the same time. And I get the M/M thing. It isn't for everyone. I have actually liked reading M/M stuff because it gives me creative ideas on things to try with my hubby!

Sci fi/fantasy- Check out Graceling by Kristen Cashore (author name might be spelled wrong). A character becomes blind part way through. Only the first book in the series was any good, in my opinion. Graceling is great! It's a YA novel. The devvy scene is tiny and only comes at the very very end but it's such a good book anyway. I read the two sequels too. There's a third sequel that just came out but I haven't read it yet. The blind character only shows up very briefly in the other books but I still enjoyed them. And if you haven't read Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse yet, I highly recommend it.
Just came here to second this recommendation for Black Sun. Excellent book!! I picked up because it was a dev recommendation; I’ll keep reading the series because it’s a well written character driven novel with a refreshing take on fantasy. Thanks for the recommendation, devogirl! 🤗

I've gone through this whole thread and added a few things (I'm very picky) to my reading list so thank you so much for keeping this thread going! I thought I'd share a few of the books that haven't been on here which I found devvy, even if they were not a masterpiece, and a few I would not recommend. devvy books: "A new life" by Bonnie Dee - the main character has a limp and a TBI, it did push my buttons so I recommend for a quick and easy read when you're on a dev high "sapphire blue in the straw" by Paula Freda - I don't know if this is available, I found it on smashwords 10 years ago, probably the first devvy story I read. it was ok, a bit religious, but short and sweet, so as above non-devvy books: Captivated by Tessa Bailey - the hero has a limp, which does not affect his life whatsoever and is mentioned maybe 3 times. However, this book is super kinky otherwise, so while I only read maybe 1/3 of it, I think it may be a good read if you're into consensual non-consensual stuff, or just into interesting sex scenes Nicole Snow - Heroes of Heart Edge book 4 - this is a series which looks fairly interesting, the character in this one... you guessed it, has a limp, and so there are devvy moments, but other things in the background, inclusing how mismatched he was with the love interest, kind of put me off and I didn't finish it. Maybe I was just too busy and should give a chance another time, so it's not entirely non-dev and not recommended, just putting it out there I got some recommendations on reddit but a lot of them were historical romance which I don't like so can't recomend anything else at the moment, also as you can tell, my preferred disability is different from the typical para on here but maybe someone will find this useful

Is there a link to a book list I missed? I just went through the whole thread over like 3 days and bookmarked any interesting looking things on goodreads if that's what you're asking. But a list would be more efficient!

Haven't read it yet, but a new release that came across my inbox (Amazon knows me too well!) is "My True Love"- Jules Steele. I think you might like this book – "My True Love: Jules Steele (The Steeles at Silver Island Book 2)" by Melissa Foster. Start reading it for free: a.co/gIjx6XpSummary makes it sound like an amp war vet returns to his hometown. Am planning on checking it out but wanted to share!

It was fun! I'm seconding this recommendation by em ! I listened to the audiobook. Only about five hours -- it was my running book for the past week, haha. Also, there's also a sequel! It's called "New Year."

Bonnie Dee has written more than one dev book--maybe a secret dev author? She also wrote A Hearing Heart, a historical romance about a deaf guy. It was ok, a little dull.
