The last episode of this season for this show was a ok, ahem, average; it could have been better. That said, I ain't gonna spoil it for ya. I'll wait to hear what you have to say about it. I'm six episodes in and much to my surprise, I love it. "Fun" might be the simplest and most accurate word I would use to describe it. There's nothing groundbreaking here, no heavy lifting to figure out the plot, and I wouldn't even call it particularly dark, even though it tries to be. It's pretty much the standard high school fish out of water story with Tim Burton's fingerprints on it. It's just really well done with a magnetic lead actress and enough of a murder mystery plot to keep her busy. Jenna Ortega is great as Wednesday! She's more human and less vicious (one dimensional?) than Ricci's version. I can't stand Luis Guzman as Gomez though. I nearly stopped watching the show after the first episode because he's so embarrassingly awful. Most of the adult characters are either poorly written or miscast. Thankfully the focus is mostly on the young cast because they are all great in it. Anyways, I enthusiastically recommend Wednesday.

Speaking of dark stuff, has anyone watched the macabre series Wednesday based on Wednesday Addams of the Addams family? Imo, it's meh ok for now. I'll have to finish the series to make my final critique, lol I finished it. Not the greatest but not the worst. But I’m all about the dark humour.

I just watched Where The Crawdads Sing. It's based on the book by Delia Owens with the same title, and y'all will find a special connection to the wild marshlands of North Carolina throughout the film, although it's not actually based on a true story. I highly recommend it.
After reading this article, I have no desire to watch the film or read the book:
That’s a hell of a story. But I have to say that a lot of rich people have killed before and never been prosecuted.

That’s a hell of a story. But I have to say that a lot of rich people have killed before and never been prosecuted. I actually watched this movie before reading this piece in The Atlantic. I watched it since I wasn't initially aware of the horrific story about the author and her family being involved in the murder of a suspected "poacher" in Zambia and their apparent racism towards Africans. Now that I'm aware of all this, I truly regret having watched and "highly" recommended it, and I'm certainly not going to read the book. The Owenses deserve to be behind bars, if that ever happens, and maybe Reese Witherspoon and ABC might need to be held accountable or at least be investigated with further scrutiny even if they may not be fully involved with the Owenses' crapola.

It's on Hulu, but, I would highly recommend The Orville for fans of Star Trek: Next Generation. It's not really that funny, even though it's supposed to be, but it's a solid Star Trek Clone.

It's on Hulu, but, I would highly recommend The Orville for fans of Star Trek: Next Generation. It's not really that funny, even though it's supposed to be, but it's a solid Star Trek Clone. I absolutely hate everything Seth Macfarlane has ever done...except for The Orville. Its literally just Star Trek with a different paint job and 15% more jokes. It retains FAR more of the essence of what made Trek what it was all the way from TOS to VOY than any of the new Trek shows. Strange New Worlds is the best of nutrek and it still sucks compared to 80s/90s Trek. Orville is absolutely excellent. I always caution people that the first episode is absolute trash and the next couple aren't that great either. I have a feeling that the execs wanted to load the first couple of episodes with Family Guy humor because they didn't have faith that audiences would be interested in a Trek clone helmed by the Family Guy guy, but really it only hurts the show to frontload it with its absolute worst quality. Like 4 or 5 episodes in though, it combines the concept of one of my favorite VOY episodes with one of my favorite TNG episodes and it works extremely well. It has a number of extremely memorable episodes and is just straight up good science fiction whenever it isn't trying way too hard to be funny, and it doesn't try all that often. It also has tons of cameos from the good Trek shows, which nutrek does not have because it fucking sucks.

queerwheels Our Flag Means Death is incredible, absolutely one of my favorite shows of all time. Have you watched What We Do in the Shadows (the movie or the show)? If not, I highly recommend - lots of cast/production overlap with OFMD. The movie and show are both amazing

I wanted to write this in a new post because it doesn't have to do with horror. I can't recommend Derry Girls enough, a new season just dropped on Netflix and it's still absolutely hilarious. Though shenanigans those girls (and James) get themselves into are just stellar. I also just love there accents, I get why they say Irish is a sexy accent. I was looking through to see if Derry Girls was mentioned already. I just binged it and omg.... what a phenomenal show. Not only did it have me full on laughing out loud but also definitely shed a tear or three, especially the ending. I keep trying to pick a favorite character and I genuinely can't, everyone is so good.

Debating whether to watch Special Season 2 yet.
I mean, I began liking the first one, but when the protagonist is such an arse, makes it hard for me to look forward to seeing where the story goes.
Unless he changes in Season 2 but I guess that's a long shot.
Otherwise I'm up to Season 4 on my rewatch of Kimmy Schmidt. Need new, good comedies.
