Ah, they bring back memories, Brace. I wore a pair of them after my botox in order to keep my legs stable when walking, same awful colour too. I should probably be wearing them myself, given how un-cordinated I am still, but I'm just too stubborn. Though over here, we call them splints. When I hear braces I usually think of these things:

I used to have to wear "night splints" as a kid. They were solid white and very restrictive. Had to wear them while I slept, but they caused me so much discomfort, I stopped using them and just would wear leg braces (AFO's) in the day. I walk around at home many times without the braces. I'm sure doctors would probably have a fit if they heard me say that, but then again, I don't give two shits about what they say most days. Oh lord yes, Night Splints (great name for a band) were awful, no articulation so you could only shuffle around. And not very fun when confronted with a slippery bathroom floor either. Ooh you've got me all nostalgic. Good on you for lot listening to the doctors, as long as you feel safe, comfortable and able without those braces, then you're better off not wearing them unless you feel you have to.

Well, because of the lack of sensation in my feet, it's safer when I wear shoes and braces, just so I don't accidentally stub my toe, break it, or trip on my floppy feet (yeah, that's right devs, you're welcome.) Plus, I wear steel-toed shoes for extra protection for all the above mentioned reasons. That's a sensible way of going about it and lethal if anyone looks at you the wrong way.......'BAM!' balls of steel just got a new meaning. I do wear one basic ankle support when I'm feeling a little wobbly, I must admit. So it's always good to prepare yourself, even if you do have the advantage of being more mobile.

I have a collapsible cane, but it's more of a novelty than a necessity. A novelty, eh? Is it topped with a huge diamond?

I have a collapsible cane, but it's more of a novelty than a necessity. I had a student who walked around with a black cane topped with a Jaguar hood ornament. He was absolutely ridiculous! Save

Sounds like a dapper dude. He didn't need the cane- he was just full on Lucius Malfoy cane for status. :-P Save
