I'm looking for some beta readers for my first book in a series I'm writing.
I feel like a beggar for asking, but I need some serious feedback on the plot. It was a character driven plot that just kinda wove itself the way through, and I'm just not 100% certain if the plot works.
I don't like to classify it as "erotica" it's more an erotic romance, which I consider a different genre in my opinion. There is definitely a romance woven into it, so it's just not ALL sex. BUT if you are off put by the sex scenes, this may not be something for you. I originally wrote this for myself and now I just kinda want to share it after all the time spent on it.
The heroine is a blind female and the male lead is a BK amputee. They meet in college and start out as friends with benefits and the story evolves over several years. If you are into blindness this will probably hit your dev buttons, I know some of the ladies may be disappointed with the fact he's just a BK amputee, but I had my reasons for that (mainly his career). I tried to make it devvy but also appeal to general audience.
Let me know if anyone is interested.

I am so illiterate when it comes to amputee abbreviations, what is BK? Are you planning on posting on the Blog? I am thinking you could just go ahead and post the story, I am sure there are lots of interested folks to read the story. I think if you wrote from your heart it'll be okay. I never had anyone proof read or anything before I posted but since it is really just a hobby for me I just enjoy sharing it with people who like to read it. I don't really think I will ever publish anything because it may not be worth the effort and the audience of people who like to read our kind of stories is so small. I would like to have more of a connection to the people who do like to read my stories which is not really possible through the Blog, because with the majority of my readers I have no idea who they are or where they are at, which saddens me a little sometimes.

Below knee. I guess I just worried that it was too much erotica for the blog, but it may be ok. It's a long enough story though it's more like a literary soap opera (mainly because I can't let these characters go). Blog may be a good place for that as a continuing story though. I guess I just want some feedback before I start posting away. (is it devvy enough...etc....)

Don't worry about it being devy enough tori I am sure it is perfectly fine... I have written stories where I have worried that there is not enough sex or it takes too long until they get it on but I know some people are okay with it. I have worried a lot more in the past what people think about my writing but I am getting to a point now where I know some people like it and that is what I focus on. It's how I write and that's it. It's not for a non dev woman because it always deals with the attraction to a disabled male (para in my case) and so I know my regular friends would probably be like "WTF" if they read it but I know the people who are on the blog share the interests we have and so they read it and hopefully "get it". There is something for everyone on the Blog and there is an audience for every story. I would say just go for it. Do you read stories on the Blog? I have to admit I really don't read any other stories on there because I tend to get very insecure and self conscious about my own writing then. So I don't read other's stories but I know a writer should also read in the genre they are writing in but I just can't. I do know though that there are lots of talented writers on the Blog.

Yes I read several on the blog. At first it leaves me with that sinking feeling of "oh my gosh I can't possibly post mine because she's SO much of a better writer than me." But I realize now that I've been reading two to three novels a week, the more I read the better my writing becomes. I think reading peoples writing or seeing artwork that is better than ours makes us rise up as artists and make our work better. It stretches us. Someone will ALWAYS be better than you. That is how it is in the world of art. I think it comes down to the fact you need to write it for YOU, it's YOUR story, it's your baby, it's your soul that you are pouring out. Some people will embrace it and some people will hate it. Art is subjective. I've read some mainstream authors that have five star reviews on Amazon and their writing lacks depth to me. I have read some that have terrible reviews but I absolutely loved it. I'm sure I'll look back on my first writing endeavor ten years from now and cringe. I do that with my physical artwork that I produce for customers. I look back at my old stuff from ten years ago when I first got out of college and I can't believe some of the stuff I put out into the world.

I think there is a free day again or maybe try one chapter on Free Fridays. Good luck!

Interested Thanks. I actually got quite a few PM responses, so I will probably use you for round two. I want to get the feedback from those folks first, but I will keep you in mind for sure!
