I am wondering if any of the women, or men in a personal context, have spasms or have partners who have spasms during orgasm. I have only recently been able to ejaculate again since my accident (3 years post). It is awesome to feel it again, but I was wondering if it was common or not. Since my doctors aren't much help. Hope I'm not too graphic for this site.

i experience the same intense muscle spasms when i cum to [legs and stomach]. nothing painful though it almost adds to the orgasm in a way. i know a few other sci that can cum to..but only quads so far. take care.

well guess I am a freak, mostly quads from what you guys now of. Well I am T6, I consider myself lucky. It must be a little more common than we think since all of us can. Anyway I'm sorry for the TMI but I figured this is as good a place as any to ask

I don't think this is too graphic at all. Among the SCI guys I know, all of them get spasms from any kind of stimulation, which includes sex. Quads get reflex erections more easily, my ex could ejaculate but he always said it was just a reflex, it didn't feel like an orgasm. From what I have heard, many paras don't get hard as easily and many can't ejaculate if they have a complete injury, although obviously it's different for everyone. But what's up with your doctors if they didn't know all this already? I'm no medical expert, I've just picked things up from talking to people. And another great thing about us devos, you don't have to explain all this on the first (or second or third) date, we know already, and it's not a big deal. Sex is so much more than "tab A in slot B."

Ha, that's what -E- said. He likes the fact that I either a) already know what's up and know how things function or b) aren't going to be bothered by it. He said it was always weird explaining certain things to someone he just started dating and got awkward at times, but he knows that with me, I most likely already know the exact medical terminology and could probably do it myself. But wow, there's something I totally didn't know. (Quads getting relex erections more easily than paras) Why is that? I'm baffled at the moment.

Hmmm... I always thought that the lower level where the injury is located, the better function in that department... Interesting.

Its something to do with the level of the injury. I'm a c4/c5 quad and seem to be permanantly erect through reflex erections. I guss there is one bonus with being a quad!

Vivi, I think most people equate a lower level of injury with a higher level of sexual functioning, but this is just not true. I will not dwell here on neuro-physiology, only will say that reflex erections are much more common in quads, who tend to have more spasticity in general (lucky you). Psychogenic (short for "getting hard when you see a hot girl") erections are also much more likely acheived in quads. It has to do with the reflex arc. It breaks down as follows:
Incomplete Quads (Injury level T-6) or above: Most likely to have erections of both types and orgasm w/ ejaculation.
Incomplete Paras: Less likely than Quads, but still may have both.
Complete Quads: Infrequent but it happens.
Complete Paras: Rare.
Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) is always a possiblity during orgasm/ejaculation and is a medical emergency. It causes the blood pressure to go very high and can be caused by any type of overstimulation such as a full bladder or a big woody! Devo gals, if you plan on dating a guy with an SCI ask him about AD and if he has ever had it. It is always good to know what to do in that situation.

I wouldn't say the doctors were ignorant on the subject, but as far as them saying " This is fairly common", or not. Or them saying "It is more common because or your incomplete case". They pretty much said congradulations and that was it. I think asking fellow wheelers or devos in this case is far more enlightening than a conversation with a doctor who is "practicing" medicine.

My reflex erections caused me trouble because they kept ripping off my condoms and i got a sore at the base of my penis. This kept happening despite using the largest condom bard made. So now i use cathiters.

As far as the ed drugs, I have "tried" them all. My doctor thought it was worth it. They all work, but if I just wanna "clean the pipes" I don't use them. I can manage without them. But if I want the longer lasting experience, I pop one in. My preference is Levitra. Everybody id different.

treid viagra,,,found levitra to be better....even with a fair record w/o the pill it is a confidence thing,,,,w/ a pill i KNOW i'll be up to the task,,,,plus ive found the erection goes down w/o stimulation but answers the call right away for around four hours,,,do be aware that alcohol is detrimental...and in cases of erections lasting over four hours call everyone you know to brag...
