Before I go on...My name is Ashley. I would hate for you all to have to keep calling me ajp Anyway, I've always been pretty sexually open and curious, so I think I associated my feelings with curiosity in general. Now that I'm older, I am starting to see that it's a little more than that. About the labels, I do hesitate putting any label on myself that I don't fully understand. From what I know so far, I wouldn't mind the label 'devotee'. I just don't want people to assume that my association to devotism is strictly fetish/kink (not that fetish and kink are bad, mind you). Have you ever dated a wheeler or thought about it? So, thank you to Lee and the regulars here that have created so much dialogue about this. It's helped answer so many questions.

Yes, that's actually how I came to question my devoteeism...I've had two serious relationships with guys with SCI. It wasn't until someone mentioned the word 'devotee' that I questioned anything. For me, I think it's the emotional connection that I miss and want back. There is an entirely different type of interaction that happens with a man in a wheelchair. Simple things like bending down to kiss the person I love changes the emotional exchange. A kiss isn't an afterthought, it's a very purposeful action. Sex isn't just about getting off, it's about building up. I like that and I want that. So, when I said that when I see a guy in a wheelchair I get turned on, it's as much about the emotional as it is the physical. I'm not very good at expressing my feelings in words, so forgive me if it sounded cheesy...but, I hope I was able to convey a little of what is in my head. Also....hope you don't have too bad a hangover, Paul

Relationships have to be based on the emotional aspect for me too. There has to be a connection there.
