Aw, I'm so not in the mood for the holidays... Haven't been in three years or so. I feel like the Christmas Spirit, or however you want to call it, has abandoned me. Which is so bad, because it used to be my favorite time of the year. I used to put lights all around the house, keep them till January, Feburary if I could, I'd have them in my hair if I could, now it's like... Meh. Haven't even put my Christmas Tree together yet. I'm really sad that I don't feel that way at all anymore. :/ Why do you think you lost the Christmas spirit, Ada?

The holidays somehow always get to me and make me feel shitty. Also the end of the year approaching. I get sentimental and stuff all the time.
It's for a variety of reasons I feel that way. I hate all the commercialism and how crazy it has become, starting with the sick tradition of Black Friday/Thursday or why don't we just cancel Thanksgiving and make it just a regular ole shopping day. I think about all the crap in the world, this country and right outside my door pretty much. It's difficult to be cheerful in these crazy times. And that forced cheer is annoying too. I don't have relatives or anyone to go home to or anyone coming to visit. It's just my husband and I, and our younger son. I miss my other home, Germany, and the Christmasses past. I miss my older son who can't come home for Christmas. I feel if anyone wants to actually remember why we started the whole Christmas thing, we don't have to do any of the commercial, fake stuff that comes with it nowadays. My one coworker doesn't celebrate it at all, she is a Christian, and I kind of like the idea. I try to be more giving during the season as in sponsoring a foster kid, giving to the Salvation Army, rounding up at cash registers for the various organization the stores collect for, donating toys or buying a grocery bag full for the Food Bank and stuff like that.
I did put this one thing on my Christmas wish list. It's a book called "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F..."
Maybe that will help me be cheerful next Christmas Season or maybe it will actually help me to be okay with being pissed about stuff.

My current list mostly consists of disability texts I’ll probably end up buying myself.

...and I guess I want to add that I volunteered to work on Dec 25th, so I am scheduled to be in the ER and will be spending time with people who are in the hospital at Christmas. I am happy about that.

Well I am looking forward to Christmas this year, mainly because for the last 11 Christmases I have only got out for an hour out of bed. I am now up to five hours every day after healing my sore after doing well over nine years in bed. I have built my strength up, and will be receiving my new Tdx wheelchair on 21st December. I feel that’s all I have been a bit negative with my life over the years and I am hoping that 2019, will be fantastic. I lost a good mate two cancer he was only 49, so I have got no more complaints. The Christmas trees up, I have decorated the conservatory and we are all going to have Christmas dinner in there. Happy holidays, Pete

I will admit I have had fun shopping for gfs and there have been a few gifts I've been excited to give the fam but for the most part, Christmas is kind of annoying. See I'm a weirdo who doesn't like opening presents. it's awkward and not even remotely fun..and then, of course, there's the trying to figure out what everybody wants part... Spoiler alert. nobody wants anything... I usually get my mom and dad a gift card to Canadian Tire cause that's the only thing they can think of. Last year my mom said she wanted some boots but she vito'd everyone I picked out. We literally sat for an hr looking over boots and we couldn't agree on anything! CTC ftw.. yeah... haha. and don't get me started on my bro. We both like alot of the same things but we don't want anything. We have enough band shirts. we don't want physical media! there's nothing... the whole concept as an adult.. it's just totally unnecessary and stressful and oxymoronic. and don't get me started on Christmas Carols... Happy Holidays

Mets idk how you consistently make things funnier than they should be (especially because that elf dance is dated), but congratulations. You win the thread... again 😜

Pro Xmas Tip: You don’t have to like a gift to give it. When my mom and dad were married way back when she always gave him very specific lists of things she liked. He didn’t like them and so instead he would buy her what he liked. Since he usually bought a more expensive version of whatever it was, he couldn’t understand why she wasn’t happy. When they divorced my mom told my dad to buy his future wife what she actually asked for at Christmas. He listened. Every year now my step mom is happy at Xmas and my mom is still salty. 😂

" my mom would never do that. at the same time, I would never dream of doing sucha thing. I need ideas or I'm out also, I don't think that my could've returned the boots had I got it wrong. Actually, if I remember correctly I think I was very close to getting her a pair and thought, ooop... better check.. Return policies have always been a big thing for me too. One time my mom got a bidet with me in mind to which I replied, What do you mean? there's a return policy right?"
Mom "No look, everyone tried it alright"... Me "soo my ass is smooshy and I'll be sitting on the commode to begin with..." Mom ... it did not work... LOL. as a result wooden arms were built so I could sit on the toilet... (Don't ask... ) did not work either. 400 bucks down the drain... My mom hasn't always been great with return policies, to begin with, but that one will always stick out.

Never enjoyed the holidays. Even less since my dad passed away. Every year, I’m forced to fly back to my hometown to spend time with relatives who judge every aspect of my life, who are close-minded, racist, homophobic. Every year I’m told I should lose weight, change job, find a boyfriend, simply have different opinions on everything. To be fair, I enjoy giving gifts to my friends. And I will admit xmas lights are pretty. Also, my horrible aunt where I’m staying can really cook, the food will be amazing! So I will concentrate on that!

Heh our tree isn’t up either this year yet either
