I haven’t seen a discussion thread yet for the 2018 holiday season, so I figured I would make one.
How’re you feeling going into the holiday season? Any plans you’re looking forward to? Things you already know are going to be a pain?

I plan on a quiet holiday with my family, as usual. I also plan on not being particularly sober.

I’m stoked to get to spend a solid week with my son. We have a lot of fun activities planned from ice skating to going to theme parks and museums. Plus, of course, we will be engaging in some festivities with family as well.
I used to hate the holidays when I was in retail (for obvious reasons), but now that I’m a student I really enjoy them. They’ve become a time where I can truly be family focused. ❤️

Let's cut a long post short by saying that absence makes the heart grow fonder and I'll be spending a lot of time with friends and family this year that I think I'll end up cherishing more now that I'm on my own a lot of the time.
The loneliness I've felt over the last 6 months through moving out and my job ending (though I start a new one soon) made me realise just how much love we take for granted without really thinking about the impact that can have on others throughout our lives.
But of course there is a countenance to that. Seeing someone truly appreciate something you've given them is a very special moment and what I love most about this time of year.
That and the songs.

Fun fact about me: My name is Noelle and I’m named after the Christmas song “The First Noel.” I usually go by Elle though. And yes, I was supposed to be a Christmas baby, but I was a procrastinator before birth apparently. My mom finally went into labor on New Year’s Eve, but I still wasn’t even born til the 2nd. 🤪

Can't beat fun festive facts and that one's a doozie. But speaking of festive names, it's taking all my skill to resist a crap St. Nick joke. Going to festive events, just for that special buzz you get from fellow Christmas enthusiasts makes it all worth it too.

Looking forward to the holidays. I already have that Christmas feeling. No one at work is in the mood to do much, the stores are playing Christmas music, and I'm watching Hallmark movies. Been doing a lot of shopping for the kids. Will spend the day with our (small) family. It will be good as long as we are all happy and healthy.

Anyone else like myself, who "acquired" their disability over the holidays? It's not something that weighs on me at all, but the anniversary always comes up.

Hanukkah has been rough on me this year. It’s only day 3 and I’m out $380 to fix my car which randomly broke down.

Aw, I'm so not in the mood for the holidays... Haven't been in three years or so. I feel like the Christmas Spirit, or however you want to call it, has abandoned me. Which is so bad, because it used to be my favorite time of the year. I used to put lights all around the house, keep them till January, Feburary if I could, I'd have them in my hair if I could, now it's like... Meh. Haven't even put my Christmas Tree together yet. I'm really sad that I don't feel that way at all anymore. :/

I’ve never gotten that excited about the holidays. This year will be traveling to be with family which will be nice. Just missing having that one special person to share the season with. I’ve asked Santa for that but unfortunately I think I might be on his naughty list.
