Hey guys, I haven't been here in a while. Merry Christmas everyone. Today I had the right feeling in my guts that there might be some hair ice to find in the woods and I got lucky. Oh and for those who have not heard about it, check out wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_ice

Lovely shots, and lucky find too. I've seen some of that in the Pacific Northwest where it's very wet, and things get really wacky when ground and air temperatures are flirting with each other right around freezing. I've tried a million times to take a compelling picture of needle ice, which is a similar phenomena but occurs on the ground rather than exposed wood, but only ever got a picture that looked like muddy broken glass.
