So, I didn't necessarily want to start a new thread with this but there was really no other thread that I could find to put in in. I just had to share the conversation I just heard...
There were three young women talking. All I heard was one woman say something about a guy in a wheelchair. So, my dev ears just had to listen. She went on to explain that she saw this really cute guy looking at her at this event that they were both at. She said that they started flirting with each other from afar. Finally, he gestured for her to come over at which she explained that she did. Then she blurted out to the women she was talking to - "Oh my god...he was in a wheelchair. Oh no, I'm not doing that. I asked him up front how he got there." At this point, I'm cringing because I am thinking about the lies thread. Apparently, he went on to explain that he was shot and then offered to her that "it" still works (wasn't I the proponent against telling lies when someone asks? This, however, is too much truth LOL). All the women started laughing and then one asked how all of that even works. Note: I wanted to jump into this conversation so badly . She then went on to explain that they exchanged numbers but when he finally called her she said she didn't want to go out. Then, all three of them just started commiserating about the fact he actually called to ask her out.
UGH...now I know the s*$# most of you guys have gone through. To hear this stupidity first hand was eye opening. I got the feeling that they thought he didn't have the right to even ask her because he was in a wheelchair - that just rubbed me the wrong way. One thing I learned about myself after hearing this conversation - I am so glad I am a dev!! Next time, if I ever hear a conversation like that again, I'm jumping in!
