Braced4Impact I just read the book and I think it was a well written overview. Hopefully it brings more people to PD and helps to more open-mindedness. Personally, I had hoped to get to read some more in-between-the-lines-stories that actually happened here. Let's say some slight references to one of the best threads of PD like a reference to the Top ten list of dating a PWD. But on the other hand - people who are aware about the book and have general interest in the dev/PWD topic will follow your advice and just find us here and figure that PD is a great place to hang. The book cover reminds me of a late 70s self-help guide or psychological book. If I had only seen the cover and had not known a bit about the guy who wrote it, I would not have touched it. I'm sorry if you aimed for it to look that way, then it's just me who didn't get the hint, so don't worry too much about it. Keep going - I'm looking forward to read more stuff from you. Thanks, yeah covers aren't my strong point. I tried to stay away from specific threads only to avoid singling any particular user out. I wanted to keep it broad, and as you said, let people discover it on their own. |

Congrats on the success!! That's great! I think staying away from specific threads or people and keeping it broad and short was a very good idea  I also meant to thank you for being so open with your own experiences in the book - honesty and openness like that tends to touch readers. The bullying you describe in the beginning is heartbreaking. I'm very sorry you had to go through that  As for the cover, I admit that it probably wouldn't particularly draw me, either. It probably doesn't matter an awful lot, but if you're unhappy with it yourself, maybe you could ask one of the talented people around here to help? |
