Great watch! Wasn't born into this community BUT definitely a part of it now. Have been a little hesitant to fight OUT LOUD and only for this community at the beginning.. felt like an imposter since wasn't born with it and since lived most of my life a different way.. BUT done with that feeling. THIS QUOTE really sums up the fight and how I have felt about it and how I continue to feel about it. O’Toole - “Disabled people know that every day of our lives. The world doesn’t want us around and wants us dead. We live with that reality so there’s always gonna be an ‘am I gonna survive? Am I gonna push back? Am I gonna fight to be here?’ So if you wanna call that anger, I call it drive. You have to be willing to thrive or you’re not gonna make it.” I found many highly relatable quotes and opinions that I've never heard discussed in mainstream media. A few things some of the cast mentioned that I wanted more of but would have been out of scope of the documentary were topics of identity, sexuality and gender norms in society and how disability does and doesn't fit into these subjects. Definitely would be interested on an entire documentary in this style to touch on sexuality and gender identity in the disabled community... should touch on topics of fashion, breaking stereotypes when it comes to disabled.. AND ALSO breaking stereotypes on gender identity and exploring relationships OUTSIDE the hetero normative.. definitely should talk about devs.. the lack of rehab when it comes to relationship and sex.. which leads to a segment on sex therapist and sex workers.. I mean.. really it could be its own thing for sure.
