A Diamond in the Rough is about a dev named Beth who infrequently spots a disabled man, Patrick, in the college town she lives in. When he happened to move into her apartment complex, she couldn't let the opportunity of a lifetime pass her by. Patrick, a geology professor at the university lives an interesting, fulfilling life, but shyness about his disability kept him from pursuing any types of relationships. Will they let the fear of judgment from one another ruin a good thing, or has she finally found her diamond in the rough? This gem of a story is full of heart, humor, and leads up to very detailed devy sex with just a touch of kink thrown in for good measure. Buy it now and let this story sparkle some brightness into a dark and depressing world right now. www.amazon.com/dp/B086C17YGJ

Here's a brief excerpt from the story.
About a week after he moved in, all was well with Beth. Somehow, fate smiled on her enough to keep the two from bumping into each other. She left for work early, he seemed to be a late-starter. They shopped at different hours, they went out at different hours and they arrived home at different hours. It was as if he had vanished again into her fantasy world. Of course, fate has an interesting sense of humor. Having just arrived from the grocery store with heaps of food in both hands, the paper bags made navigating the icy path from her car to the front door a treacherous endeavor. She couldn’t even see what was ahead of her, but she heard a man’s voice speak above the howling wind. “Want some help with that?” “Please,” she called out behind the bags, and a pair of hands removed two of the heavier bags from her arms, allowing her to see again. No! It’s him! She screamed in her mind. He was even more handsome up close than she could have imagined. He had a shy, nerdy quality about him with the thick glasses on his face. A slight five o’clock shadow countered his boyish looks and sheepish grin. His eyes were warm and brown, almost hazel in color, and his scraggly, black hair completed the delicious package. Even if he hadn’t been disabled, she would have given him a second look, because he was just her type. “It’s really slick out there today; I wiped out on the ice earlier,” he said. “Oh my, that’s not good,” she said, trying to maintain composure. “You’re 107, right?” he asked. “Y-yeah,” she stammered. “I’m 104. I just moved in a week ago. We always seem to miss each other in the hall. Totally my fault. I teach odd hours.” “You’re a teacher?” she asked with surprise. “An adjunct geology professor at the college, but yeah, pretty much. Um, can we get out of the cold?” he asked. “Right, right!” she said a bit too eagerly. He led the way and held the main door open for her, and she saw his tilting gait. He must have noticed the stare, and there was a slight sadness in his expression when he saw her staring. “I was born with it. A condition called spina bifida. It makes me walk kind of funny,” he said. I knew it! She thought to herself. “Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to…” she stammered. “No, it’s quite alright,” he said, forcing a smile. They made their way down to her apartment, and she fumbled with the keys. They fell to the ground. Before she could react, he grunted as he leaned down with the shopping bags to grab them for her. “Thank you,” she said softly. She thought about hoisting him off his feet and tossing him on the kitchen counter and then pouncing on him, pinning him like a predator devouring prey. “In the kitchen?” he asked. “What?” she asked, startled by the question. “The groceries; you want them on the counter in your kitchen?” “Oh yeah, yes, thank you so much,” she nervously spit out. “Anyway, I’m Patrick Lerner, it was nice meeting you…” “Beth, Beth Wentworth,” she said. “Have a good evening, Ms. Wentworth,” he said with a nod. He made his way out of her apartment, closing her door behind him. Beth stared at the carton of eggs on her counter. “Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid! You had him in your apartment, and just let him leave. So much for him being a jerk, too. He stood out there in the cold for you, helped bring in your groceries, and you stared at him like he had three heads. Stupid!” she scolded herself as she angrily put her foodstuffs away. Hopeless. She felt utterly hopeless, and she knew she’d screw up like that. How long had she been a devotee? All her life. From her earliest memories of wrapping toilet paper around her dolls to give them casts, to watching daytime soaps with her mom to secretly gawk at the patients in the hospital melodrama. When nurses would push patients in wheelchairs as their legs were bound in casts, she secretly pictured herself as the nurse taking care of the broken man. She studied up on various disabilities as a teen all the way through college. She even considered getting a job as a physical or occupational therapist. All that time, and the first rule she learned early on: NEVER STARE! And she stared. She gawked. She practically removed her eyeballs out of her sockets to plaster on his legs as he walked.

I enjoyed this story, a good combination of sweet and sexy. I really liked the part where they both realized they were attracted to each other, because I think it is so romantic when you discover someone really likes you. And yes, it was devy!!

Thank you so much, Pam, that really makes me happy to hear!! I love writing dev romance fiction, because I get to live out my fantasy through the text, but also because I hear from devs like yourself that you enjoyed it. That makes all the effort worth it!

Might be pretty autobiographical? 😉 Enjoyed the story. Not that into bdsm but wasn’t “too” much for me.

Thanks Blue, I tried to tone it down from other books a bit, but yeah physically, it's certainly autobiographical. The rest of what he does for a living and hobbies are more fictionalized.
