Hi friends, I know some of you smoke weed... I would like to get some advice on what type/strain you smoke and how you smoke it and what do you smoke it for. I'm not experienced in smoking at all. I'm looking for something light and something that just kind of calms my mind/anxiety, like in the evenings for example. I have only used edibles before and wasn't a fan with all the stuff in the edibles like sugar and preservatives. I feel with smoking it may be more "real" and will affect the body differently. I am planning on checking out one of our many Cannabis stores here in town but I was looking for a bit of pre-info from you seasoned potheads I have to say with what has been going on this year in this world/country, I have had a lot of things on my mind and it makes me sad and I can feel my mental health is affected. Funnily enough, working in pharmacy, I'm really not a fan of chemical meds. I do believe they are there to help people but I personally don't take medications lighthearted. I'm happy that my gym has opened again today and plan on getting back into my work-out routine because I do believe that exercise is also a great way to deal with mental and physical issues. I've missed my gym a lot and doing stuff at home just wasn't the same and I didn't keep up with it because I was just in a rut with all the c... going on. I still am in a rut and worry about lots of things so yeah...trying to ease the mind a bit. Thanks and hugs to my PD peeps

Smoke some indica. I’m sure the weed store people would be able to give you a good recommendation. I don’t smoke any more, but I always liked bong for big strong rips. Since you seem to be into a more mild experience, you may prefer a pipe or a joint since you can take smaller tokes.

I'm not knowledgeable at all about strains and stuff Dani , but you can always make your own edibles and cut out sugar etc. You can make date smoosh balls with all the good stuff and healthy fruits and stuff that weed in. It depends if you are a smoker or not. Smoking hash/weed is very abrasive to the throat. I'd personally choose between vaping/inhaling or eating. It's way mellower and full body. Smoking hits the head straight. Then again, from what I can tell, it affects different people differently. So who knows how it'll affect you based on how you take it.

rebeca yeah, actually inhaling and vaping may be more my thing, thanks for that idea. I have never been a smoker and so I can already see myself sitting in a cloud of weed, coughing up my lungs...lol

I had been a smoker for a decade and a half and it still burned my throat (depending on quality) and now as a non smoker I can only stand it when I am SHITFACED

I really don’t like edibles, they give me panic attacks every time. I like ice bong if you want to get HIGH and not feel it in your throat, but most of my friends who do it regularly for anxiety just vape. I’m a fan of that, it’s nice for before bed and feel more casual than a bowl or joint.

I prefer indica or a sativa/indica hybrid, you can also get blends with CBD. They've got it down to a science now lol. I've had a great experience with quality dispensaries, they are super helpful and knowledgeable. I struggle with severe anxiety and weed often exacerbated it, but the right strain/blend can do wonders. I have found that small amounts are best for me in terms of anxiety. But I'm also super sensitive
Inhaling anything, including vape, can still be harsh and cause agitation if you're not used to it, especially if you go hard right off the bat, and/or if it has flavors and other additives. But of course sensitivity, frequency, etc will play a big part in that. I have upper airway issues and other health stuff so I generally try to avoid any sort of smoke/vape, even 2nd and 3rd hand. But that's just me personally
Another option is vaporizing the flower itself, there are some really cool personal vaporizers out there
And as mentioned, you can make your own edibles, for example canabutter is a really easy way to incorporate it into your cooking. Smoking/vaping is instantaneous which is a huge pro, but edibles have their own benefits, if it vibes with you of course. As others as mentioned, they don't sit well with everyone. It can definitely take some trial and error to find what works best for you!

Thanks for the feedback...yeah. I definitely won't go all crazy right away, start slow and light...I don't think I want anything with flavor, I am thinking just plain "weed flavor" 😉. I actually like the smell of it. My neighbor sometimes smokes in their yard and I enjoy that 😁

be careful when you first start smoking. if you smoke too much it can actually make your anxiety much worse. I smoked for 20 yrs and would still get bad anxiety if I smoked too much. try to take 1 or 2 hits and see how it makes you feel. have a good show you wanna watch and just chill

I guess I am in the "seasoned smoker" category and would say there are so many choices if you're going to a dispensary to choose. I have not gotten a chance to try it yet but I hear Blue Dream is really nice if you are looking for something nice. More than anything I would say just make sure you have all of your snacks and goodies before you get to stoned. Starbursts are good but your choice of potato chips are always a good way to go. Just don't do too much at once, give it 15 to 20 min. in between taking hits. Your tolerance is probably pretty low, so it's not going to take much. The album for Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon would also add to the experience if you have a minute to just lay down and ponder the universe for a while.

slightly off topic but I’m happy here’s finally a possibility to tell a story. I was out hiking with my parents last week and we came to a rest area. Somebody obviously forgot their metal grinder with still a little bit of gras in it. Of course it’s mine now 😉 Haven’t had any of it yet though. I’ll wait for a good occasion. Back to topic. I never smoked weed on a regular basis. Just every once in a while when somebody had a joint and offered a bit. Dani as far as I understand, you want to do that in order to ease your mind and get off junk food. Please have in mind that smoking weed can result in being very hungry and eating everything what’s there. So I don’t know if this would then be the right thing to do.

The munchies are the worst part of smoking weed, i would literally be starving and eat so much. If you smoke regularily be prepared for weight gain x

Well, first of all, be aware Cannabis is not some sort of magic "chill pill". I'm not going to speak against it, because recreational use can be a good thing, but please be careful about when (i.e., under which circumstances) and how much you ingest. Its effects can vary, depending on your mood and mindset (as with any psychoactive substance), but since you tried edibles and seem to have liked them, I wouldn't worry too much. Also keep in mind, this is not the 60s anymore, so everything you will find on the shelves, is far more potent than the stuff everyone smoked back in the days. So, starting "slow and light" might not be as easy. Since strains can be very different, I'd pick up 3 samples (one heavily sativa-dominant, another indica-heavy and some random hybrid) to try and see what you like best. Generally speaking C. Sativa provides a more energetic and "mind-centered" high, whereas Indica tends to make you a little drowsy. They can both "calm" you down though, and "ease your mind", so it's really difficult to predict what you would actually prefer. Making butter is fine, but even "experienced" people sometimes overdo it, which is rather unpleasent. Also results may be very inconsistent, depending on how "well" you prepared it and whatever you've been eating during the hours before... So, if we're talking about smoke vs. vape: I'd always recommend vaping to a non-smoker. Also it's way more "efficient" in terms of "bang for you buck", since less material is wasted by being burnt. It's really just vapor, and much lighter on the lungs, because there's 0% tar or anything in it. There's some kinda oils though, so it's not plain water, but if you hit the right temperature it shouldn't feel harsh inhaling at all. Take care though, because more efficiency means higher density of the desired chemical, so you can really take mini, mini drags to start off with, wait a few minutes, and repeat the proccess, if you feel like it. I'm not too much into the business anymore, but there's a veriety of cheap-ish vapes out there that would pay for themselves quickly, if you continue using them for a while – just by "saving" some pot everytime. This (https://sales.magic-flight.com/launch-box/) is one I know about (and it used to be cheaper), but I like it for its simplicity. But I'm sure there's lots of reviews about every different kind of device on youtube, so just look around a little, or ask in the store. Also, if you want to try smoking, I'd strongly suggest you use one of these: www.grasscity.com/tune-activated-charcoal-filter-tips-40-pack.html (There's different brands, I just picked the first result from Google.) They fit into certain pipes or you could roll them into a paper. Some of the good stuff will get filtered out, but it will also make the smoke much lighter and enjoyable for someone not being used to it.

Don't worry gin I am old enough to use common sense and not go crazy with this. I have had my experience with edibles and didn't care for it, so I am basically just considering another option. Thanks for the feedback
