Hi All, Great interesting site. Just signed up so posting here to say hi. I'm a civil rights lawyer, and also a writer and lead singer in a political comedy band with guitarists and bassists from Meatloaf and Blood Sweat & Tears. (For our website and my picture, you can see . I went into a wheelchair three years ago (due to an issue with back muscles from FSH) after recognizing that it would in fact be incredibly "liberating" rather than confining -- and it has been, which is important for a nature-lover and day-tripper like me....And if i really like someone, I give free rides. ;-) Looking for someone who shares a sense of curiosity and a desire for connections, whatever form those connections might take. Enjoy, FurthurEd

Mr Ed, welcome, and I love political satire songs...I've heard some great ones on the community radio station in Tampa. The "Mel Gibson" tune is funny...love to hear more!!

Welcome aboard Ed. The lyrics on the Mel Gibson song are beyond witty. I also live and work in NJ (Bergen County to be exact). Graduate of MSU, former W. Orange resident and darnit, I work for the State. I am a proud, card carrying member of a union that gives me a $600 per year "uniform allowance", and charges me the same in dues. My civil liberties are perpetually offended.
Good luck to you and your band.... Great stuff.

You have a problem with follicle-stimulating hormone? You don't hear of that happening much with, um, guys.

AB -- Wow, I grew up in West Orange as well! - Graduated WOHS in '85. And I now live in Upper Montclair not all that far from MSU. (I went to Rutgers undergrad and GW down in DC for law school.) Small world.
AB, Dolly, thanks for the kudos on Mel Gibson. I should have more songs up soon. (We recorded 9 songs so far and have 4 more to record for our first album.) My favorite is "My Name Is...Dick Cheney" to the tune of Eminem's "My Name Is...Slim Shady".

Thanks to Tony too. Glad you liked it.
Georgia, I'm completely confused about your follicle-challenged comment.

Simply an educated guess :-) There weren't many possibilities. So perhaps not obvious, but close. There are few other abbreviations for FSH, although a common one I've seen is a polite term for suicide (fatal self-harm = FSH).
But then, you also left a few clues. You implied a muscular problem rather than a nervous system one. You attributed the need for a wheelchair to back muscles and not your legs. And you did not mention any accompanying or concomitant illnesses.
But anyway, this isn't a trivia. I was just curious and wanted to verify my guess.

From 10th grade biology - FSH is follicle stimulating hormone. The girls know this all too well.
The follicle is the happy place where the egg grows and springs from and thus begins the Great Adventure We Call Life. Well....if a mommy and daddy love each other, etc etc etc...
