Hi everyone. I've been reading the threads for a few days and decided to join. My name is Nick, I'm a C-5 quad of 11 years. Wow, 11 years, feels weird saying it. Anyway, I'm living in FL but moving back to Wisconsin soon. I've never heard of devotes before and I'm curious. I just got out of a not-so-good relationship that surprisingly lasted 7 years. I've never had to try dating since my injury(she was my caregiver). I think I held on to her because I was afraid that I was undatable otherwise and didn't want to be alone. Coming here has given me glimmer of hope that I can find a good woman. Thank you all! Love lives of the disabled seems to be so taboo that I couldn't find anywhere to ask questions. I've tried meeting people on other sites to no avail. I never would have never dreamed there were women who actually preferred us.

Welcome to the board. Your caregiver may herself have been a devotee (hence why she sought out and took that kind of position) but that doesn't make her a nice or caring person and often our members find that the role of carer and lover just don't mix well.
Looking forward to you contributing and expressing your views.

(NO MORE) Mr. Nice guy....sorry, the Alice Cooper song just hit me!! Dude, we're ALL dateable, our prob is getting meaningful exposure to the 'right' kind of girls. The caregiver girl definitely saw SOMETHING in you to hang with you so long. Use that as a building block of confidence! After I got hurt, I got some incredibly good looking, smart girlfriends, none became a wife, and relationships end, chair or no-chair, but it was enough to give me great confidence in pleasing a girl. Look, no getting around it, our market is cut wayyyy down, but as you can see, there's chicks that are not immediately slamming the door. In fact, some want to open it. So, hang in there, act with esteem, be more than just a nice guy in a chair. In my mind, we face a challenge most men couldn't handle, so, despite what the general population thinks, we are MEN...maybe more so!! BTW,I'm c5c6.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm just new to the dating game, I guess. I'm sure it will take awhile and probably a few woman to get my confidence back. That's how it worked for everything else in my life(fishing, hunting, school, work) I actually don't live too far from you Tony. I haven't been looking around here though, I'm moving up north in the next couple of months and I've had ALOT of things changing in my life lately.

Dude, don't go back to WI...lol I'm playing, but man, as a quad, I can't imagine moving to WI. I have a longtime friend from Milwaukee, and he would NEVER go back, even if the Packers are almost worth it. Where you at down here? I'm in Dunedin/Clearwater area. As for 'dating', I'm a masterdater!!!

I live in Port Richey. I miss everything about Wisconsin except the weather but I dealt with it for 20 years before I came down here. I'm moving to Madison which is always voted among the top 5 cities to live. I lived there for 5 years and have to agree. I wouldn't go back to Milwaukee either. HaHa
