Hi everyone, I'm back again with another historical novel featuring a devvy blind guy.
This time the story is set in Japan in 1835, and it's a m-m story. Did you know that the samurai were all about sex with other dudes? Like the ancient Greeks, they thought it was more manly to do it with men. In this story, a low ranking samurai falls for a blind masseur. Also did you know that in Japan there was a guild of blind men? The Todoza was run by and for blind people, providing training in massage, medicine, and music, as well as O&M and social support. It was light years beyond the European model of charity and asylums in the 19th century.
Flowers by Night is a vivid, realistic view into a world that had completely different ideas about gay/straight/bisexual desire and about blind people. It's also a tender, poetic (and devvy) love story. If you are a dev of blind guys, or if you're into Japanese culture, please check it out! Even if you're not into romance novels. In fact, even better, because it's not the typical m-m romance.
Thanks very much for your support!

Huge thanks to everyone who has purchased a copy of my latest novel, Flowers by Night. There are not so many historical fiction books about Japan, so it's not that hard to rise to the top of the category on Amazon. Why not help put a devvy novel in the top ten? I'm not there yet, but I could be. You guys are awesome, I really appreciate the support!

Hi everyone! I'm very excited to announce that my latest novel, Flowers by Night, is now available as an audiobook! I was very lucky to find a professional narrator who speaks Japanese. He did an incredible job, and it's amazing to hear the characters come to life. You can listen on Audible, and if you bought the ebook on Amazon, there's a big discount. It's also available on Apple, Kobo, Google Play, Chirp, Scribd, and coming soon to most other audio sites. And don't forget to leave a review--I really appreciate it! I have a few promo codes to give away, if you would like a free copy in exchange for an honest review. Just send me a message. Happy listening! I also put up images on Pinterest if you're curious about the costumes, locations, real historical figures, or other details.

I'm happy to share that my novel Flowers by Night has won first prize for literary fiction in the North Street Book Prize competition for 2023: The field was really crowded this year, so I can hardly believe it won, and for literary fiction, not just in the smaller genre categories. Follow the link above for a thoughtful critique by the head judge. I'm doing what I can to change the way disability is represented in fiction, and bring some historical accuracy too.
If you haven't read it yet, you can find Flowers by Night wherever books are sold, not just Amazon (if you don't want to support them). It's even available as an ebook through some libraries, or ask your library to order it!
It's also available as a professionally produced audiobook. If you want a code for a free copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review, send me a PM. You will need a Spotify account to use the code.
