There is so much about my past and my journey that I really want to share with you all and get your opinions on, but I don't have the time right now (started a new exciting job today), so I thought I'd start by sharing some things I wrote after my husband passed. It was originally meant to be just a way for me to process the huge jumbled mess of thoughts rumbling around in my head, but I'm hoping someday to actually finish it and turn it into something more. I am an open book when it comes to my past, and I have found it to be quite therapeutic and enlightening to talk about some of the more intimate and personal blessings and nightmares I experienced. I hope you all enjoy getting to know me and my story a little better. Hopefully, this will save me a lot of extra explaining when I post some of my specific questions/thoughts in the future. Also, there isn't anything here about my dev journey, but I will write about that as I am able to in other posts. onceinamillionlifetimes.home.blog/2019/01/03/the-story-begins/

Just finished reading some of your posts. Very insightful and well written.
The American medical system is so strange compared to the European equivalents. You really did great looking after your husband but should have received far more assistance.
You have a new follower.

I have always wondered how different our experience would have been if we lived in another country...or even just a different state. The US medical system is so dysfunctional, and every state is unique, as well. We lived in a VERY conservative state where social services were extremely limited. I would have given anything to have more help. It's really sad, but I know so many people who lost everything after losing their spouse because they were forced to give up their jobs and then ended up also having their homes foreclosed on. It just makes me sick how broken it all is. In a lot of ways, I was actually one of the lucky ones.

That's really terrible. Glad I live where I do.
