I am 100% straight regarding relationships and dating. I’m into paraplegics using a manual wheelchair. I would not want to date women nor would I actually want to read stories or see movies where the female character is disabled. Only in fantasies there are two scenarios that I’m more interested in women than in men. Interesting that there are exceptions to the rule, would you mind sharing some details of these, is it about the same disability as your male preferences? It has interestingly nothing to do with disability.

While it's reassuring to find parallels in our experiences, they're not all going to be identical and that's good to know too (sorry for the cliche). Thanks for all your contributions!

I'm bisexual and I have definitely been attracted to disabled women before.

I’m bi so yeah. I’ve had plenty of fantasies about women as well as men. My boyfriend actually wrote a story for me about a month after we started dating about a nurse taking care of a rich paraplegic man and they fall in love. He made sure to include plenty of devo stuff in it that I would be into to show me that he’s not only ok with my attraction, but is willing to indulge in it.
Obviously, I loved it, so he wanted to write another story for me. But this time, I asked for it to be about a disabled woman instead. So he wrote about a lonely woman with OI (osteogenesis imperfecta) who’s rejected by most men because they’re afraid of hurting her during sex. But after much searching, she finally finds a man who’s gentle enough with her and will tend to her needs. I find both stories equally stimulating. The fact that it’s a man or a woman who’s the PWD has personally never made a difference for me. I can find any PWD attractive (so long as I like them as a person as well).

I'm male and generally consider myself straight but I'm totally bi for paras - hence why I'm here!

Had been meaning to respond to this one for a while lol. I'm bi but for whatever reason I only had dev feelings for men/masc-presenting folks. But recently, things have been shifting and it's really interesting. I had my first ever sex dream about a female PWD (para), and I've caught myself entertaining the idea here and there. It is different than my typical dev response and I'm not sure it even is necessarily a devvy feeling (it was in the dream, but not so much when I've thought about it since then), but it's something. I'm curious to see how it evolves.
ETA: I just remembered that Brit Marling's playing a blind woman in The OA totally pushed my dev buttons. So there's that too haha

I feel that it's a bit like the pretending many of us admitted to in our childhood. I have a female body and so any pretending I did would be of a female with a disability. In my fantasies it doesn't actually matter who is the one with a disability, in stories other people write it's a bit different because the dynamics might be different, but I still may be interested. I was wondering in general what your thoughts are on this and whether I'm the only one without this kind of preference? You are not the only one I feel this way too.

When I see disabled women my devneness disappears, it's the same as if I was seeing an abled-bodied woman. I feel nothing. I'm 100% straight and everything I create in my mind relates to what I would like to live in real life. So, when I think about some scenario, it's just my partner - a guy with the disability I'm interested in - and I. I'm extremely picky and only into spinal cord injury, precisely one specific situation/ level of injury triggers my dev feelings. So, even if I forced myself to imagine something different, just to "play" , it wouldn't work. I've never read but I'd be open to read some story where there is a woman with my preferred disability - not in a dev way but just to see another point of view, like as I was reading any other fiction just to pass the time.
