I remember Ironside. Wow, that's a blast from the past. Remember that Police "bread truck" they modified for him?
Hey... Why couldn't he drive himself or transfer into a car? And he had a small crew of people with him while on duty. What's up with that? LOL, lazy para!
Phil, I remember that series from my youth too (or at least I thought I did until I did a quick Google of it as I was writing this reply). I was going to say that he didn't drive himself or transfer because of his rank (Police Chief) which comes with a full time driver, and, of course, being disabled, the typical aide to assist him. I was close, but not spot on. According to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ironside_(TV_series) he was the ex-police chief, brought down by a sniper and kept on by his friend the current police chief as a special consultant (we've "upgraded" from disabled para consultant to OCD disabled consultant in MONK - LOL). Oh, and apparently that huge ass truck was a converted "Paddy Wagon".

I have so much useless trivia bouncing around in my head and I totally forgot about Ironside. I used to watch it as a kid. Now I'm going to go out and get the first two seasons on DVD. Thanks Tony, I needed the extra trivia...lol
James, here's a bit of "ironic" trivia on Ironside for you. Raymond Burr, the star (and of Perry Mason fame also) was a closet homosexual with a sham marriage in a long-term committed gay relationship which was hidden by Hollywood because the typical American wouldn't watch a show starring a homosexual (minority, social outcast and victim of societal prejudice) who played a disabled lead character at a time in society when the disabled were, that's right: a minority, social outcasts and victims of prejudice! Ironic trivia - lol.
