The warmer weather here today reminded me that bikini season is right around the corner. I've added a few pounds over the past year or so, mostly due to stress, and need to try and slim down. I'm a C-5 quad and never had a weight issue before. I'm wondering if any other quads have any tried and true methods of exercising. I'm mostly concerned with my fat face but I'm also afraid my new thong just isn't going to look right. PLEASE HELP!

PLEASE DON'T WEAR THE THONG...there, I helped! No, seriously, I was flat tummy for years post injury, but it seems like each decade puts more weight on my gut. I wear a binder, which really helps me hold gut in, sit up more straight and actually breathe better. I would be very worn out in a day if I didn't wear it. It's just a fact of getting older (50 now) as a c5 quad. I do actually exercise though. I push and do these funny looking workouts that only affect my arms and shoulders.

Yeah, man, please avoid the thong...leave that for the ladies to show off... ...I would suggest asking a physical therapist what they recommend for excercise and ways to tone the body...if you have lots of money, there's always the surgical route as well if you don't mind cheating...

No surgery for me. I think talking to a PT is what I'll have to do.
So, no thong? Damn. I'm going to have to re-think my whole "summer look"

Yeah, would agree with Fubb, staying in shape is difficult for paras.Think a lot of the problem for me is a change of lifestyle, takes more than an adjustment in diet, need to find the time for more exercise. It was never a problem when I was younger, its not easy getting old

Staying in shape in difficult for anyone over the age of 35. Remember, the metabolism really starts to slow down. Men get it in the gut, women get it in the butt. Once you hit mid 40's (especially for us women), you can eat about 2 rice cakes and a yogurt a day and still not lose an ounce.

Fubb and AB are soooo right! Fruit will also do amazing things for your skin as well.

I had some success last year with Weight Watchers. And that didn't involve any exercise. Although it should have.

keep track of calories no exceptions, and reduce them......if you can't deal with occasionally feeling hungry, you are a pussy and will never lose weight............no pain no gain............

Men get it in the gut, women get it in the butt. Well that's quite the rhyme! ...from what I've heard Cocaine does wonders too...if ya' wanna' go that route...not eating helps, too. Just look at all the supermodels at the fashion shows...

Yup as each year goes by I find it harder to keep the weight off during the winter and losing it in the spring summer and fall...its the damn pop! I can't seem to kick the stuff. As I get older the more it affects the body.
The trick for me is to snack all day. 11:00 have a fruit, 12:00 have a slice of bread and cheese and lean meat, 1:00 a hand full of mixed nuts....ect. To bad I never bother to do that *smack*
I drive to work so now I get zero exercise *smack* who knew a couple blocks every day maintained so much. When I hit a bump shit jiggles....*SMACK!*SMACK!*
Are there any good healthy drinks that aren't pure chemical bullshit? Ice tea gives me wicked heart burn, that sooo sucks.

I actually try to eat fairly healthy. I don't drink soda at all, lots of water and caffeine free green tea. Potato chips are my biggest downfall. I've really been cutting back, though. I'm going to give the small, frequent snack thing a try. Hopefully that will help with the gut. I don't think there's much I can do about my chubby face. It's genetic. All the men (and some of the women) in my family seem to have giant heads. Damn Polish genetics!

Christ even the genes are wacked for the Polish and no it is not a generalization...Polish are...insane. They are a kind, generous, opinionated but insane people. I love em.
Snack lots of good stuff all day and you won't go wrong.
